Would not have thought finger joint would be on top

I was aware of some of this when I made a display cabinet a few years ago.  I got tempered glass for safety.   I did half-lap joints on the corners of the doors to make sure they didn't come apart under the weight.

I did this joint awhile back.  Once glued this stays put.  Have a mirror mounted into this door.

I actually saw Matthias Wandell make some clamps out of this type of joint and wanted to give it a try.  His seemed to go together easier than mine.

Did Matthias have a name for that joint?  Sort of a half lap, sort of a box joint, sort of bridle joint

Don't remember but I will look that video over again.  Plan on making a couple of the clamps he made for myself.

He field tested it and got almost 300 lbs of force.  Not bad for homemade.  :TwoThumbsUp:
