May 4, 20206 yr Popular Post My Monday post could pretty much read like Fridays post. Working on the front porch railing. Likely be doing this all week. A lot of painting to be done this week as part of it. Now John, what did you accomplish? Get your fan installed and working? How about momma's birthday?
May 4, 20206 yr ..Had decent weather for the weekend, I got two of the mowers going, and got most of the yard mowed where there wasn't standing water. Now back to CRAPPY WEATHER forecast for the next couple of weeks.
May 4, 20206 yr Popular Post Recovering from a sinus infection. Fun stuff. But still got some stuff done around shop. Painted my work bench.
May 4, 20206 yr Popular Post Took Sunday off. Most of today will be spent in town. Truck needs serviced, birds need food, wife needs some groceries, bought a phone and can't get it to work. So, a stop at Verizon for some senior style OJT. Mask..check. Gloves...check. DNA spray...Check. The new normal??? Might get some walnut ripped this afternoon. Got three little bedside tables to build. Edited May 4, 20206 yr by Gene Howe
May 4, 20206 yr Popular Post I quasi finished a bookcase Saturday. This one doesn’t have an owner so I’m holding off on the finish, for now. Building 8 oak shelves for the local library. The director didn’t like the glass ones. Matching the stain may be tricky.
May 4, 20206 yr Monday? About says it all.. Migraine is messing with my eyes. May not get anything done IN the shop, today....let alone do miter joints..
May 4, 20206 yr Popular Post Finally quit raining. Got 2 acres of grass mowed and yard cleaned up. Again! Got my stimulus check in the mail. Noticed long lines at the banks. Nice long wait expected there. Edited May 4, 20206 yr by HandyDan
May 4, 20206 yr Popular Post Found enough firewood scraps to make a small jewelry box. Bits and pieces of birch. Cut the wood into usable pieces on the BS and ready to see what happens.

I hardly ever go to the bank and usually do n ot have any cash on me either. Got a platter and a bowl rough turned this weekend. The platter is 17 inch Live Oak. Today did a 15 inch bowl in Live Oak. All this is rough turning. Oh forgot Saturday we did another turning club Zoom meeting , a short one kinda like a makeup for the past 3 months we did not have meetings. May 5, 20206 yr Popular Post Like Cal, my post is almost a repeat of Friday. Still working on the cedar box. Not up to the quality of a Steve Newman box, but coming along nicely. It has an upper chamber and lower drawer. Box and partition are together, dowels in the corners for strength, lid made and drawer in process. Will get a picture posted tomorrow. Shopped for some groceries today. Did laundry on Sunday. Have eggplant parmesan to make tomorrow. Then back to routing lid and making bottom trim for the box.
May 5, 20206 yr Popular Post Working on a fan box to insert into a window in my building. I want easy install and removal. Tough but I think this will do. Be all done with paint in few days.
May 5, 20206 yr Those walnut boards to be ripped escaped their fate yesterday. That trip to town met with complications and delays at every stop, except at the mechanics for the lube job. But, even with an an appointment, it was 30 minutes before they got started on my truck. Then, the Verizon store must've changed their hours. It was 10:45 before I could get in. They opened at 10:00 but there were several people ahead of me and, due to the virus restrictions, they only let 3 customers in at a time. Then, when I finally was allowed in, they found that their original activation process was totally FUBAR! It took two agents to figure it out. That took 30 minutes. But then, they had to undo and redo the entire process, just like as if it were a new sale. The end result was a working phone....after 90 minutes and many profuse apologies. By then, it was noonish. Then, got to the feed store for the bird seed Phyl wanted. They were closed for lunch! Turned around and went back to the grocery store, got some grub and headed back to the feed store for the bird seed to find another line of customers and occupancy restrictions. It was 14:00 by the time I got headed on the trip home. Got the groceries and bird seed unloaded and it was 15:00. I was bushed. So, that's my story.
