Knot a bad idea, Cal. Didn't consider that. My experience with soft woods is very limited. Not to mention, my finishing techniques are even more so. ;)

well here is as far as I got for now,used Tongue oil on outside of chest ,leaving inside alone,took top apart cleaned it up ,planed alittle off top am bottom,went with flat top,applied epoxy to top,just waiting to dry an put back together

That's, for sure, not gonna warp again. Although, you might consider a finish on the bottom side before assembly.

Looks good and as @Gene HoweH. Said it won't warp again.  Definitely put some finish on the bottom.

yes will put a finish on bottom of top,epoxy didnt set like I wanted ,found out old shop is UNlevel lol,but it still looks good
