Now, I have to save up some more. I feel ya on that!! One night I went on the EWT site and picked out all kinds of stuff and saved to cart. Went back to the cart to look how much a certain item cost and saw I had picked out $3000 worth of stuff. Yeah, not... Artie, HARO50, Cal and 2 others 2 2 1 Quote

Then a few drawers...(there is a FULL carry around toolchest in the van, everything needed to work on that van) and on down..need wrenches, right? and... Just tools...and this is just the top 3 black drawers....that red chest is almost full...too... HARO50, Cal, Gunny and 1 other 4 Quote
Gunny Posted March 1, 2020 Report Posted March 1, 2020 @steven newman That wrench drawer is in serious need of organization. OMG!!!! Take me like 10 minutes to find one wrench. You could lose your Brotherhood of the Wrench certification for something like that. Now for the average homeowner / occasional mechanic the above set up if it works for you, great. But laying them out does 2 things. 1. Much easier to find the 13 mm and 18 mm without messing around digging it out. 2. When you return it you know where it goes, or if it is missing saving you the trouble of wondering where it is in the drawer. You can also apply this to any tool, hardware or supplies you have. Is my shop that organized? Mostly but I am no different than anyone else, I have a lot to do and sometimes very little time available. Any workbench or horizontal room is fair game for piling junk / stuff / I'll get back to this later items. p_toad, aaronc, Cal and 1 other 4 Quote
steven newman Posted March 1, 2020 Report Posted March 1, 2020 But wait,...there is more.... Red chest, top drawer #1, then #2, and then.. Top drawer #3 (No, that is not a Klein) Then the first drawer under the top 3.. Followed by the one under it.. Those huge allen wrenches? Needed them for when we needed to "split" a mold at work....sometimes, we had to "un-wire" a cavity...to shut it down...one out of 96-144 cavities in a mold were usually not working.. Anyone know about that adjustable pliers. Something about "Kapex" ring a bell... Gunny, Cal, p_toad and 1 other 4 Quote

When we moved the set production shop last year, I was really tired of looking for a board of a certain sizes, a tool or a fastener and attempted some labeling, visual controls, and organization. I did get some help. But with 10-15 volunteers every week helping out, it's a struggle to keep things where they belong ("Take it out, put it away where you found it.") I remember one week one of the guys looking for a wrench. He opened drawer after drawer until he finally opened the one labeled "Wrenches" after opening a bunch of others labeled "screwdrivers", "knives," "measuring tools," "pliers," etc. Time is money for someone trying to make a living. Popular Post steven newman Posted March 2, 2020 Popular Post Report Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) Well, I had the top drawer of the Shop's 5 drawer Chest of Drawers open...decided to take a picture... Shop uses the "Hunt & Peck" system of Tool Storage...this way, I can hide any new tool arrivals.... As for Craftsman tools in the shop... Had to use this one...was almost out of c clamps Edited March 2, 2020 by steven newman Gunny, HARO50, Cal and 2 others 2 3 Quote

Well small surprise. On the section that asks how you have your toolbox organized you wrote, " if it fits, any drawer will do". Gerald, Gene Howe, DuckSoup and 5 others 8 Quote
