Before glued, bore the diameter hole you want in each side and as @HandyDan said leave a shoulder on the inside. Then as @Smallpatch said or if you purchase the snowflakes glue them into the shoulders then glue the box together with the top. Now the part I am not sure of is, how much material or thickness of the sides and top you would need from the face of the snowflake out to be able to turn the ball. As smallpatch And Gerald has suggested, I’m going to try and make these myself. I think I’m going to use a solid piece of wood to bore the holes, that way I won’t leave a chance of me leaving seams where they are joined together. Thanks for your ideas...
November 7, 20196 yr This one has 4 sides epoxied together then sprayed some clear then sprinkled some silver or chrome glitter. Not much just enough to make it sparkle a little but still leaves the BB showing through...The picture don't capture the shine but it does.

November 9, 20196 yr My wife and I alternate making ornaments for the grandchildren every year. A few years ago, I made some of these. You need to cut two pieces to shape, then cut in thirds, glue them up, then slice off the flakes. Very easy. https://books.google.com/books?id=tfYDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA75&lpg=PA75&dq=frank+klausz+snowflakes&source=bl&ots=5sdDidXq4j&sig=ACfU3U1vhvMrk6PNOgAcilzJJxvCR3GQbA&hl=en&ppis=_c&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj_pLDY6tvlAhVSRqwKHRFFDd0Q6AEwCnoECAgQAQ#v=onepage&q=frank klausz snowflakes&f=false
