My own weekend was eventful, besides our own daughter making the leap into joining the Army, I also got in the shop with my son this weekend and started a homework desk project for his upcoming school year, each weekend we should have a new entry, so stay tuned!

Don't know how I missed Rusty's fabulous bowl. Thanks for including it, John. It's a beautiful piece and deserves to be featured. 

 

For the last week, my git up and go seems to have got up and left. Hopefully, I can find it, again and get something accomplished this week. Wish me luck.

Just can't seem to find my "Giddy Up Go" 

My giddy up left a couple years ago and only comes back in short spasms and never before 2 PM. Got the stain on 4 more offering plates and had to do two pours of epoxy on another to fill a void. Hope to get stain on that one today and finish on Thursday . That will make me half finished with this project and that only took 7 months. Hopefully 3 more weeks on the last 8.

Thanks for that, Gerald. At least I know I'm not alone.

I've got projects that only have about 48 months or so on that....

Well I did call and order the parts for the laundry center.

It's the second time in a couple of years that the washer decided to leak out the tub seal or transmission. 

 

I'm glad I'm not the only one with 4 year old projects. My reputation in my home is not the best.

Somehow that makes me feel a little better.

Knee got Day 1 of rehab this afternoon....supplies for the desk have been bought...depending on this knee, may try for a glue up.....this week

Well, was mowing the big yard last Thursday, when son approached me and said he did not have hot water.  So, it was finding the circuit, then testing everything to see if there was electricity to the heater.  Yep, it had leaked into the wiring well.  Wires were baptized in the water and shorted the circuit.  The heater being 14 years old was ready for replacement.  So, I did the plumbing and he did the electrical.  We replace the heater and on Saturday morning, he was very happy to have a hot shower.  I made sure the water did not drip from any connection.  

Then today, took grand daughter to dentist for filling.  Then took both children to a place called Skyzone where it is trampolines all over the building with spongy squares to fall into, tramps to shoot basketball, dodgeball and other more complicated challenges.  So, for $17 per month per child, they can go an hour per day.  Took advantage of that deal.  Will get this yard edged tomorrow and get on the ZTR tomorrow afternoon to finish that yard.  

 

Like others, my get up and go is gone.  I have basically recovered from the UTI, but while I have a good appetite now, energy level is pushed to accomplish anything.  Need to powerwash the garage and back of the house where the sun doesn't get on the house.  Will do it in blocks of time to accomplish the whole project.  I will get her done.

I agree, and nothing says all at once.  So what it takes few years or so..

That is a great picture John!

The Farm Security Administration was the forerunner to the agency I retired from - now called Farm Service Agency.

 

I didn't get much done last week, spent it in north Georgia where I went with the wife who had to work.  I spent my time enjoying the cooler temps, good food and visiting with old and new friends up there.  So far this week, progress is being made - albeit slow...  My project has been ongoing for over four years now...

My get up and go has been MIA for a few months now while I've grappled with the CPAP machine. Starting to feel results now though. Not bodily exhausted any more, just a bit tired come the end of the workday.

Waiting a little while before I run off to my work area, as I don't want to have an accident while I'm still tired.

 

Did a little work last week, finishing the rope "ladder" for the cat tower I built a few months ago. At that point now where I'm trying to figure out what I want to make next, and what that might look like. Mrs Fizgig wanted a sideboard at once point early in the year, but we've figured we'll probably move out before it's really of use, so that has been shelved for later. I might make a smaller prototype of it though and finish it up, just so I can learn how it might go together and how it might look. Then I can always sell it for a kid's doll/playhouse I guess.

Hey John

 

I've been dealing with sleep deprivation, that's turned out to be sleep apnoea. So, I've had the tests, gone through trialling a machine and am now on my self-purchased machine to get my nods. It's working, so that's great. Just seems like I have a bit of a sleep debt to work through, as my brain's still a bit foggy.

If that continues, I'll go see the Dr. again to get that checked out, as the CPAP machine is doing its job according to the results.

It's been a frustrating journey, and I've desperately wanted to get out and work on wood again, as I love the therapeutic benefits it gives me as well as the sense of satisfaction of a completed item.

 

Here's hoping it's sooner rather than later

 

Glad you can get some shut eye, Fiz. Hope the fuzziness abates before you consign yourself to the sawbones ministrations. 

Thanks Gene. It has really put a dent in my sawdust creation, and for that I'm a little anxious to get back into it for my own well-being.

 

I've had to be content with reading, but it's been hard to retain information so I've been frustrated with that too.

 

Every day I walk into the garage to go to work or come home, and every day the sight of my bench just makes me sad and frustrated.

 

Soon, my pretties, soon....

I know how frustrating that can be Fiz, to walk into the shop or garage and see your woodworking things strewn about, and to have no interest, or in-ability to work, it really sucks. Like most things it'll shake out Fiz so hang in there man and get your health and well being singing soon, and you'll be upright and ready for wood. Sounds like you're into a state of being that is a challenge to come out of, but you will! Aussies are tough guys!
