Must have something to do with the manufacturing process where they didn't want the hanger bolt protruding from the legs. This is quite common. Most chairs like this are shipped broken down and assembled at the warehouse.
March 11, 20197 yr Hey Stick, I'll have to look that one up. Not familiar with vacuum draw glue. thanks
March 11, 20197 yr Stick's suggestion requires a vacuum hose nozzle applied on one side of the joint and, glue applied to the other side. It does work.
March 11, 20197 yr Thanks Gene, I was suspecting that a vacuum system was involved. I'll have to look and see how this is done before working on that relic. Really don't want to botch that job and disappoint the wife. It was her Grandmother's chair from a long time ago. Well I got that wrong, took another look instead of using memory and the chair was given to my wife's mother in 1912. Not sure where I got the other idea from. There's a tag on the chair . I'll post pictures after PT but gotta go now or I'll be late. Edited March 11, 20197 yr by sreilly24590

Note: too much vacuum and you'll suck the glue out of the joint... Edited March 11, 20197 yr by Stick486
