Because it is not the same wood. Rails and styles are oak and the rest is cherry. Think I left that out of the description and there is three coats of lacquer. Thanks for the comments guys

Some joints just can't be fixed. I considered my first couple as practice. Hard learned lessons. Ya gotta pick good material.
