Woodworking is on hold for some time due to our move from Corona, CA to Bowling Green, KY. We have been here about a month now and things are going well. Lots of new furniture and and other items of necessity as we left most of our furniture back in So. California via multiple garage sales and giving away to our new Jr. High Pastor and his wife in Corona, CA a bunch of furniture that they could start out with. Going from a 2,600 sq. ft. 4 bedroom 2 story house that we lived in for 17 years and now living in a 1,600 sq. ft. 4 bedroom single story house is a big challenge. But things are moving along as we get all of our ducks in a row (well....we are trying keep them ducks in line but there seems to be a lot of feathers in the air right now). The only "Wood Working" done so far was to get a few 2"x6' from Home Depot to put on top of the kitchen cabinets so Tami could put up some of her cookie jars up so you could see the jars over the molding/trim.

One of the struggles coming from a large house to a smaller one is that we have had all kinds of wall space to put up photos and other things on the walls. Now we have to be very selective as we have far less art/photo space. The first thing that I put up was my Great Grandfather's tools in a case that I had made many years ago out of reclaimed wood that came out of an old Presbyterian church from Los Angeles. We have to be more selective artistic-wise with the lack of wall space.

Worked on this years give away ornaments.  No pictures yet.  Pushed the lathe I keep in the garage out in the driveway and rough turned 4X4 blanks for the ball catch games.  Turned them to 2 12/2" round and cut the ends to fit in the chuck jaws.

Monday again? :2087728586_WonderScratch:

Phyl's in pre op now. This hospital has screens around every corner that lists the pt.s by number and where they are in the process. Don't know exactly when surgery is scheduled. She's been in pre op for 51 minutes...not that I'm counting.

Gene to pass the time you could run around throwing all the curtains back exposing your self and see where that gets? The time might not be important anymore.

I'm sure riotous laughter would ensue. Then, jail.

Was too much "Bait & Switch" for me.....told them to take a hike.    Went van shopping this afternoon...will pick up the 2010 Chrysler T&C Friday...from a place on the other end of my town.  4 miles round trip..not quite a wasted day...

Thanks guys. The surgeon got a a late start due to an emergency. Phyl has been in the operating room for about an hour. I expect it'll be done real soon.

Weekend: mostly nothing...mainly family related business...a little (very) time in the garage working on some clean-up & tools...Oh, and back-filling holes LOTS of exploratory digs by the dog.:Tapping:

Coming Week: Early morning transport service resumes 4d/wk with before school swim practices going in effect. Vote on Tuesday. Unfavorable weather forecast dooms outside work; also will limit most garage activities by Thursday. Hang out here learning good stuff and having a bit of fun. Rest TBD.

Don't recall seeing a hot water tank like that nor the vent for it run out through the window.  Saw dryer vents that way.

All the asbestos pipe wrap might be a bit concerning too...although not then I suppose.

Reminds me a lot of a friend's dad basement workshop back in the late 50's, early 1960's...he had TS, BS, joiner, sander...Probably all Atlas/Craftsman or Delta.

Several of his generation had basement shops equipped that way; prosperity of the 50's and WWII vets. I don't ever recall him using any of it...hired all of his carpentry work done.

Reminds me of my Grampa's garage shop.

He would drop off neighbor guys that would take the old "North Shore Line" to work at Delta's Milwaukee factory on his way to do his milk route. That's where he got his woodworking machines from.

Wish I had his old machines, but my uncle sold them for drinking money after he died without the families approval. :(

Oh the memories of a small kid seeing him work in his shop while I sat watching!:1726666591_DayDreaming:
