Sequoiadendrons were the dominant tree in North America and Europe during the Jurassic Period (180 to 135 million years ago) and the Cretaceous Period (35 to 70 million years ago). Dinosaurs disappeared near the end of the Cretaceous Period but the Sequoiadendrons lived on. I was around then.
October 23, 20187 yr @Gene Howe and @Stick486 Would these be quaking aspens? And would each "grove" of aspens be clonal colonies? Our son was in AZ a couple weeks ago and took this pic somewhere around the Flagstaff area. If Stick's answer is yes, I sure want to share that with him for his info... October 23, 20187 yr I've read somewhere that those clonal colonies are the largest living organisms in the world. Each tree's root system is part of every other tree system in the colony. I'm guessing that they are all genetically alike. After a forest fire east of me, an entire colony was wiped out. On a recent trip through the area, it seems that they are coming back. Good to see.

Fairly simple so i put one together over the weekend. Saw that one again too. Yours came out just like Don's. They only took about an hour to build theirs though. TV time must be akin to dog years.
October 24, 20187 yr I built one too but I used the Shop Notes and it turned out well. One thing when you build these is that when loaded they are very heavy so buy very good wheels. Note that the back side has sheet stock and can hold several full sheets of ply
October 24, 20187 yr yay! it's been raining for the last day or so, should stop around noon. rain water tanks are now full, so we can use that water for next few weeks (instead of having to haul water to the house). love free water. waiting for a UPS package (not a bomb, a new iPad), we'll get that set up for my wife, and then, if i have time, may wander down to the shop and see what i can make. or just clean things up a bit.
