Volleyball season is now over and I'm getting back on schedule. Last Friday and Saturday brought it to an end as we lost two games in the tournament. By the way, sorry we got all tied up last Friday and I didn't manage to get up a Friday post. I hope it didn't mess up your weekend not having this up.;)

So I finished the Poplar Green Egg smoker table last Saturday and got it picked up and out of the shop.

This is for one of the smaller models which is really almost a table top version but they wanted it to sit down in the table so it wouldn't get knocked off and broken. So I did a half shelf and left more open area on the other side.

This was one of those I didn't have to finish either as they wanted to put the finish on and i was glad to let them.

This week I have cut out some bread boards and almost got this batch finished. Just need to route out the place for the bowl to sit that holds the dipping sauce.

I should get those complete Saturday.

I also got a batch of cutting boards cut out and cross cut today so I could glue them in the end grain side.

I am running a batch of five and will cut out another batch the first of the week.

I don't think I posted this but I may have and if so forgive me lost of memory. I posted the picture of the shaper a friend gave me that had surface rust on the top. I was able to get that cleaned off and it is looking pretty good.

Now I'll clean the spindle and he is going to come over and give me some tips in running a few pieces. It is setup right now to run raised panel door panels.

So that is what is going on around here, what is on your weekend agenda? Love to see and read about all of the projects you are working on so share your weekend plans with us.

What ever you are doing this weekend, be safe.

made up some 1-1/2" x 1/4" trim for the inside of two windows.  first coat of poly on today.  another tomorrow.  then cut to length and install with double stick tape (onto a metal frame of a fixed window).

got some rifle ammo loaded up.

got a mess of components from Dad, and I had some others already in hand.  so now I have something to do this winter if bored (go load some ammo).  enough pieces and parts for about 800 rounds of 30-06.  do you have 800 deer that need shooting?!  or elk (most rounds will be 180 grain bullets).

We're headed to Tucson bright and early tomorrow. Picking up my laser engraver.

Be back Sunday evening.

Got a Stanley Bailey 5 1/2 on the bench for restoration. It's got a grooved sole. All the screws have been cleaned and polished. It's back together now. I forgot that they have to be assembled before flattening the sole. We'll tackle that while the glue is drying on the latest lamination. Maybe get the frog tuned, too. We'll see.

Well, I finished the cradle this week and tomorrow I'll hang it from the frame.  I let it cure for about three days before I handled it.  I ended up wiping 6 coats od semi gloss poly on it.  Thursday and Friday were devoted to building a nativity for the church.  Tomorrow I HAVE CREEPING CHARLIE IN MY SIGHTS.  He's been growing in my back yard all summer and I've been to busy to spray him.  Tomorrow.....he' mine.

Thanks Stick.  I'm pretty proud of it.  In fact, when the snow flies, I'm going to build one from cherry.

Whew, great work John! I still love those green egg tables, hey you should put some type of brand on the table if you don't already.

My Friday started out with a bang, very dear friend of the family called me up around 10 am this morning, and needed to be taken to the hospital, she wasn't feeling good, long story. After a brief hold up in triage, they admitted her immediately, she was having heart attacks as they were examining her, they got her into the STAT room on gurney, put her to sleep, and laid the electric paddles on her to get her heart beating the way it should. She has a defib implant, but it failed. That is why she was feeling so bad the last couple days. I just got home a half hour ago, 11:15 pm, and she is still at the hospital resting in her room now. They'll have to re-implant another device. I am completely glad she called me, and I could be here for her. She lives up in the mountains, I got her to where she needed to be quicker than rescue could of.

Thanks @John Moody for getting this topic up, the week just aint the same without you and your Friday Topics, thanks sir.

I cannot report anything done as fantastic as Ron's cradle, or as life saving as John's trip to the ER or even as splendid as John's Green Egg table.

I can report, though, that I am in the short rows as far as the upstairs remodel goes.  Unless I keep making change orders!

I lack the bathroom closet door and shelving and have the vanity top and shower surround on order.  This weekend I hope to get the laminate flooring in the second bedroom and maybe even the baseboard and shoe moulding down.  Hallway lacks a "little bit" and stairway painting will occur shortly.  I see a lot of door painting going on in the next week or so...  Maybe by this time next month I will be in the shop for some planned projects.

Progress is a plus, Cal.  Most times those home improvement projects take on a life of their own.

Thanks @John Morris! All of the tables get a brand on the top front left corner. Everything I build gets branded.

that was awesome taking the lady to the hospital and staying. Kudos to you!

Spent the day Friday with three other guys completing cutting out parts for the 120 dining tables we're going to push to get assembled for Christmas for the furniture bank.  Figured 2040 pieces cut to size, stretch wrapped, and stacked.

Still on the mend and taking it easy.  Did get to the shop and messed around a bit.  See the doctor Monday and should be okay to get back to it after that.
