Fortunately, none of the buildings were lost. I knew there was some fire in that area but was unaware it had been impacted to that degree. Not only is it one of the most beautiful areas but it is so deeply embedded with the cultural history of that region. We've made dozens of "laps" on the motor trail and each and every time experienced something unique or saw something new. We've seen more bears in the wild there than any other area within the park. Too long to share in a post here, but I have some great stories and memories to share sometime about the Reagan family settlement. We were fortunate on numerous visits to have met and talked in depth to the grandson of the original family settlers. This was in the early-mid 90's... Mr. Reagan was in his 80's then.

Dave, we have been to Cade's Cove several times and last summer when we went, we got into a lively discussion at Henry Oliver's cabin with a park ranger. We listened as the ranger told the Oliver story to a group of people. Henry was my wife's 7th great uncle and we have extensive family history and accounts so we began to talk to the ranger. After about 10 minutes, I looked around and we had drawn a crowd of about 20 very attentive people. Seems we had more information than the ranger. It was a very interesting day.

I hope it is a "bearable" trip for her. Thats our plan. But is raining today so they are shopping and I'm sitting.

I have grand girls spending tomorrow night and they love to paint. Maybe some pip painting might be in their future. I guess I could bring up Gladys Knight on the ole Spotify to paint by. One of my favorite Motown acts. I am sure you will have to explain the significance to the young ones! Such a voice, they sure made great music "back then"... Cal PS - not the you tube I copied in, but it is still great.

Ron you might be able to use Glad Press & Seal wrap to cover them and drill through for the dots then spray paint. I use it in the shop for veneering and it works good. Herb
