May 26, 20179 yr Popular Post Last week I was pushing to get ready for a big craft show we do here in Florence. A two day show over the weekend and I was trying to get my inventory up. I made about 20 cutting boards week before to go along with what I already had made. At one point on Saturday, I was thinking I didn't have enough to get us through Sunday, but the clouds began to build and the rain set in about 2:30 and it just about ended the day. Sunday wasn't bad but it was suppose to rain all day and it didn't but people had already decided it was going to and so the crowd as a little smaller, but we still did good. Not it is back to making more boards to be ready for our next event. This was our booth setup. These folks came in Friday evening and worked a while on setting this booth up. It was just across from us and down a couple f spaces. Not real portable but they were dry when the rain started. So this weekend I'm heading to the large Flea Market in Nashville to get more antique knives we put with the cheese boards. Sold almost out of those at the show. Then in Sunday, we are headed to Huntsville to a large gun show to spend the afternoon. I thinking on Monday, Memorial day we will take a day and just rest and have some fun. How about you all, what is on your agenda for this long holiday weekend? Shop time, BBQ, family time and just relaxing? All of us here at TPW love to hear about your projects and plans, so share with us what's on your agenda for the Memorial Day Weekend? Remember, whatever you do, have fun and be safe!

May 26, 20179 yr Popular Post Great looking cutting boards John, glad to hear you did well. I was called back to work at the beginning of the month, retirement is getting closer. Working at a downtown post office originally finished in 1917 by fellow electricians' from our local. During the demo we found some switchgear with signatures inside from the electricians' that installed it 100 years ago. We were able to save the panel and sent it to the hall for display. The foreman had all the guys working on the new gear sign it when complete. Maybe some one will see it in 100 years. Couple of small projects on the workbench but nothing pressing. Heading to Columbus to spend some time with my daughters and grand kids, cook-out and maybe a nap or two. Edited May 26, 20179 yr by DuckSoup
May 26, 20179 yr Popular Post My niece is getting married Sunday and tomorrow is the rehearsal and dinner. Mother of the bride (my sister) wants me to walk her down to her seat instead of one of the ushers. Monday may be a day of rest and relax.
May 26, 20179 yr Popular Post This is the first day that I feel like I've joined the living! Had the flu for a couple of weeks then it turned into bronchitis. You talk about being down and out. Went out and mowed the lawn and then after a rest I'm heading out to the shop to cut some ribbons and crosses.

May 26, 20179 yr Popular Post Absolutely no woodworkng this weekend. Visiting with our sons and families here in Tucson. Headed back to the mesa Tuesday with a stop to get some mesquite slabs. May get back in the shop by Thursday. Tonight, we're going to a Friday fish fry at a Greek restaurant. Hmmmm. A new fence for my Shopsmith arrived last Wednesday. The old one gave up the ghost after 48 years. The new one is a VAST improvement. Anxious to try it out.

May 27, 20179 yr @John Moody I like that portable Tin Shack, it would be a hoot to take that camping instead of a tent. Herb
May 27, 20179 yr Popular Post Wasn't on my agenda, but had to change out ignition switch and key tumbler on my wife's Grand Cherokee today...decided to clean the interior for her since it was pretty nasty from hauling 3 y/o & 6 y/o grandsons 5/6d/wk over the past year. Saturday I have some plastic panels yet to reinstall in the Jeep and finish the interior spit shine; Will be picking up a lot of sticks (I mean the grandkids will be) small limbs, debris from tonight's storm; have some spirea hedges that need trimmed too. Also a bunch of weed-eating to do. Edit add: Oh yeah forgot...a couple of HS Graduation Open Houses later this PM to early evening. Sunday after SS/Church, come home and watch the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" weather permitting that is . Probably cook out some burgers & dogs too. Wife always makes her potato salad and cole slaw as sides. Monday will visit mom's grave; headstone was set this week; will also try to make the rounds for parents/family at other cemeteries too. Then just relax for a change. Last, but not least, I hope to hang out here some with all you great folks. Holidays are meant to be spent with family & friends rather in person or via the inter-web! May 27, 20179 yr The family nixed the Greek fish fry in favor of Pizza. The other option was Bosnian Heroes. One thing about my sons, they do like diverse cuisines. We raised 'em right. Of course, the military provided them both plenty of gastronomic opportunities.
