Fridays are supposed to be a wind down time for most folks but today has been chaotic for John Moody and myself.  John is setting up a show and asked me to post a "Friday Post" and my wife and I sitting at my son's home while he is in the emergency room with a gall bladder attack.  At any rate, IT IS FRIDAY.  What does the weekend hold for y'all?  Shop time, mowing, loafing?

After finishing my big cabinet job, I spend the first part of the week building a shadow bow and building 6 frames that will hold a license plate.  My 50th class reunion is this year (yes, I'm THAT old) and I'm the chairman of our fundraising committee so we are selling license plates with our high school mascot on them.  I donated my time and material to build a few to generate a bit of revenue.

Well, that's what John and I are doing so I have to ask, "What is on your agenda for the weekend?"

Yard sales and a few glue ups.......and trying to stay dry.

Not much wood working for me this weekend. I did turn another plate for embellishing today. Will try to apply some things I learned on the first one. Still, it's going to be a good weekend. Headed to Springfield OH for the spring edition of the "Extravaganza". Held twice yearly at the Clark Co fairgrounds, there will be probably be something over 1,000 vendors displaying their wares. Mostly antiques but there are some makers as well. Weather looks promising too. We'll spend the night with my brother and eat like kings. Looking forward to it.

Eldest grand-daughter's birthday tomorrow.  Lunch with her  Saturday, party Sunday, and deliver her new chest of drawers.

It has been an exhausting week as I have been getting ready for a huge two day show right here at home. I have been turning out cutting boards all week to beef up my inventory.

Today we got our tent setup and our booth ready to open in the morning. Hoping the weather cooperates but right now they are giving 70% chance of rain for Sunday.

When i I got home this evening from setting up I got all the boards branded.

I make small, Medium and Large boards as well as a large Edge Grain board.

I still have four boards in the clamps.

On another note we got news today that a good friend of ours was helping his father do some yard work. He looked around and saw his father in the bottom of the pool not moving. He jumped in to get his father. The pool had become electricified and the were both electrocuted. We didn't find out till later that the mother put her arm in the water trying to reach her son. She is now sedated. We learned a bit ago the father passed away and the son was being air lifted to UAB hospital in Birmingham.

Please remember them in your prayers. It has made for a tough ending to an already exhausting week.

Thanks Ron for putting up the post for me.

Sorry to hear Ron...from what I hear every bit as painful as a kidney stone...Hope all went/goes well and he can be treated w/o surgery.

How tragic...You got it John...prayers for the families and the community too.

Hope things go well at the show and the weather holds..

Attended youngest grand-daughter's Spring Choral program tonight...her final one in middle-school...she had a short solo. Mowing is likely out after 1"+ of rain today + heavy rains forecast through Saturday night into Sunday AM. Two top jobs on the radar...diagnose/ fix? issue with truck and work on JD 316. Need to spend some time picking up, cleaning and putting several things away in the garage. I also have about a 10' long x maybe 4"-5" dia. soft maple limb that snapped almost completely off during Wednesday's 50+ mph winds hanging precariously...I think I can wrap a couple chains on it standing on a 10' step-ladder and hopeful break loose and dislodge using my truck to pull...almost snapped off end is probably 15-18' up...of course the wind will dictate that project.

My prayers go out to both Ron and John and John's friends.

I have some yard chores to do, service for the diesel p/u and shop time planned. Want to finish the router storage cabinet

John, what a tragic accident, so sorry for you and your friends.

Prayers sent John

I have started to make some moulding trim for the bedroom ceilings.  I got the corners cut out yesterday out of 1/2" cabinet grade birch ply.  Not too good!  I will spend most of today attempting to clean up the edges in an attempt to salvage them.  If unsuccessful I will have to pick up a sheet of baltic birch in Atlanta next week.  I did get some  bb "type" of ply at Michaels in 1/4" x 12"x24".  Those pieces look fine.

Also on the agenda today, mow the front lawn.

Cal

Holding out for the best for your son Ron...

Weather isn't supposed to be the greatest this weekend.  Might get into the shop a little.  Niece is getting married next weekend, been helping my sister with a few things.

Really tragic news, John. Prayers sent.

Hoping for the best for your son, Ron.

Peaches have been picked. 30# of them. Phyl is blanching them now.

A friend and neighbor is cleaning out his shed so his estate mgr doesn't have to deal with so much. He's probably got 6 months to live.

Anyway, he's giving me an old lathe and a few lathe tools. It's in rough shape but definitely restorable. I think it's a Delta, too dark to really tell. After Phyl and I get it disassembled tomorrow, I'll post it.
