May 1, 20179 yr Popular Post Announcement On behalf of our entire staff we are pleased to announce @kmealy (Keith Mealy) as our new "Finishing, Tips and Tricks" Forum Host. Introduction Keith has a vast background in woodworking and finishing. He has been with us for several months now and he has proven to be a great asset and mentor to the rest of us who need that little push in the right direction in the realm of finishing. Keith is the past president of the Cincinnati Woodworkers Club and he is currently a finishing instructor for his local Woodcraft store. Keith also comes from a hosting background where he dispensed his knowledge at the ever so popular WOOD forums. "His wide range of woodworking skills make him an excellent instructor and his organization always leads to a successful class. Currently he is teaching Finishing Basics and Coloring Wood. Obviously, Keith can (nearly) do it all, and his classes are always popular." Source: Woodcraft on Keith Mealy We are fortunate to have Keith and his expertise here with us. Either way I am sure he'll have the guidance you need to help create that perfect finished project. So, please join us in welcoming Keith Mealy to our community as your new Finishing,Tips and Tricks Forum Host. Thank you

May 1, 20179 yr I don't know how much you are paying him, but TPWW stock just went way up! Congrats Keith on the new assignment, I have been reading your advise for a long time - years. Congrats John, the knowledge base "on call" here is remarkable and just got kicked up a notch to boot. Cal
May 1, 20179 yr Thanks, all. John has asked me to do a weekly post,, similar to what the other hosts do. I'm still formulating it around in my mind and welcome questions, comments, and criticisms. It will probably be Tuesday or Thursday. Looking for a title, thinking "TGIF - Thank Goodness I'm Finishing."
May 1, 20179 yr Late sounding in, but congrats Keith. As Cal noted the knowledge and skill levels of our Forum Hosts is tops. Great selection choice by John & staff extremely happy you accepted the "call to duty." Looking forward to the on-going learning!
May 2, 20179 yr Just saw this. Well deserved and a pat of the back. Do you get the corporate jet before or after Kelly?
May 2, 20179 yr Congrats Keith. It's really great having an expert to guide us " one finish for all things " gooney birds into the world of beautiful and durable finishes.
June 7, 20179 yr So, Keith, when are you going to do the basic finishing video that John is going to to use to start off the new "Skills Building" forum?

June 8, 20179 yr Although meant somewhat as a joke, it was only half hearted. Some forums have a section that has a how to section with informative videos for the members to watch and learn different methods, techniques, and processes. The problem is the presenter has to want, be able to, and take the time to make a video and upload it to the site. It all takes time and effort. In reality, Kieth would be the perfect person to do something like this. He has the expertise and presentation experience to produce a quality informative video that could teach basic finishing processes and techniques (sorry, I'm picking on you Keith). Others have similar experience in different areas. Videos are great teaching tools for those who are more apt to learn by seeing and then doing something. If you can find people able and willing to do this it would be a great addition to an already awesome site.
June 8, 20179 yr Great idea. Would the format have to be videos only? For instance, envision a step by step still picture presentation of steve setting up a block plane. Or, a Waxing Moon build. Still a time consuming task but, probably less than a video production.

It'll take some work, with enough interest I'm willing to put my own effort into this to create a fully interactive video tutorial section for all our categories.
