April 19, 20179 yr comment_106801 Busy all the way around this week! Our turners are cranking out some awesome work and I am subbing at school for a few days. Ron created a dazzling ornament from plywood and ebony. He discusses some of the problems he encountered in his post Our Administrator, John, is in the process of creating another rocking chair. Most of the chair parts are turned. He is documenting his progress with lots of pictures- Read more about what he has done, here- Joe Candrilli has started a blog to allow us to follow along on his adventure in segmented turning. He is using the "Seg-Easy" products to help in creating accurate cuts. Check out Joe's progress! His Blog starts here- Joe also provided an insight into the customer service at Seg-Easy. Seems those folks are all about making the customer happy! Jim- from Easy Wood Tools- gave us an update on some beautiful walnut they "rescued". Looks like an awesome bowl in the making- Several interesting questions were raised this week. John asked about dust control in confined quarters. Several members supplied their ideas and thoughts. Ron started a discussion about double sided sticky tape as a means of holding a workpiece. He received lots of feedback- Joe asked a question about tool rests. He received some great ideas- Tim Yoder has a video up about creating colored pendants. Always fun to watch Tim work! A friend of mine hinted he would like to have a hollow turning made. He found what he liked but said he couldn't afford the item. I think I could give up substituting if I could sell pieces for this price! Safe Turning Report
April 20, 20179 yr comment_106810 Good job Lew! Hard to believe another Wednesday has rolled around. If only I could get that kind of money for my hollow forms! Think I'll watch that Tim Yoder video now. Steve Report
