March 3, 20179 yr I'm sure bug will love it. The wood looks like the living room wall in my first home. It was wide board pine, tongue and groove with the beading thru the center of the boards and along one edge. It was called pickwick panelling . Popular back in the 50's.
March 3, 20179 yr Author Popular Post Well it was a hit! Huge smile and gasp! (She loves boxes and anything else she can squirrel away stuff. She did an about face ad took off..... not 5 mins later it was full and playing out of it. So happy she likes it!

March 3, 20179 yr Author Thank you! Cant wait to start making more man glitter! Ava want wife to paint 2 small things on it. Best paint to use and seal wood with after?
March 3, 20179 yr Author Oh and dint see left hinge crooked untill after i posted it. Thankfully thier big decrotive hinges so it hit the holes lol
March 3, 20179 yr For painting, I'd put on a coat of sanding sealer (or shellac) first and then use an acrylic paint from the hobby center. Once it dries, then an application or two of clear poly or lacquer.
March 3, 20179 yr Like Lew said definitely seal coat with shellac is preferred. Then any finish you want to use. I made the mistake of using ploy directly on cedar box and within a few years the finish crackled. Apparently this is a fault of finishing cedar and why I do not like to use it along with the fact that the dust is problematic (protect yourself). Good project , glad it was a big hit. By the way on the inside if you finish it only shellac as poly or varnish will offgas for a very long time.
