I was looking at a large Neg' Rake Scraper

Featured Replies

It was more than a hunnert dollahs  It was the Glen Lucas one.

Anyway I was jonesing to try it

So I got myself a hunk of cheap steel bar 3/8"  x 1"

And I rummaged up a half inch hunk of  hardened  High speed Steel  ( a metal lathe tool bit)

TIG Welded 'em together

 and got this

Works better when I use a burnishing bar to raise a little burr like ya do with cabinet scrapers.

Now I gotta handle the thing and call it a tool

Looks like a very effective tool. Give us a close up of the edge grind you are using, A friend of mine has a tool Ellsworth I think which is a thick flat bar and is 2 ended and fits into a sleeve as a handle.

Looks beefy.  Should work real well.

Looking Good!

Do you wear a safety harness to keep from being sucked into that chip collector  ;)

Looks like a good solution, kind of reminds of "the big ugly" that Reed Grey(Robo Hippy) touts. Just out of curiosity for those of use who'd like to make one of those, how much does a tig welder cost? :)

I forget.  I got a Thermalarc 211i a few years back and have loved the thing.  It has MIG TIG and stick.

It's hosted on SmugMug  Blame your browser if you can't play it.  You prolly need a codec.

i show that link as being shockwave flash and if you have scripts blocked it will never play.

I already been sucked up twice.  The hardest part is the three way Y section where there's a bit of a jagged bit. I'm keeping a file in my pocket in case it happens again.

Have you considered running linux?  It plays great in Ubunto an you get the Graphical user interface

Ubunto steps aronud a lot of the problems and tricks one encounters on the web.

I just checked it on my Linux box and it works fine. Plus with linux you never need to worry about malware or viruses.

I down loaded it but haven't had a chance to play with it.
