Wow, how nice that would be versus Big boxes here...not even sure if Indy has anything like this except Rockler & Woodcraft...sweet!

It is nice Dave, it's about 45 minutes from home, and these guys in the past have donated lumber for veterans causes we were involved in as well. Great bunch of folks.

FML is my supplier and they're great to work with. Last week they delivered 5 sheets of Baltic birch plywood and as usual, there was no delivery fee. Of course, I also buy lots of wood every year.

Never been there, but pretty sure @Ron Dudelston deals with them. I know they advertise "special sales" a couple times of year on CL. I'd have to have some pretty big projects lined up to make it worth while...minimum of 5-1/2 hour round trip + ~325 miles total...~ @$0.40/mile vehicle expense makes big box ~same or less... A few locals that have band-sawn lumber available but mostly air dried vs kiln so you end up with a little additional waste, but more affordable unless you want exotics...
December 31, 20169 yr Reel Lumber is a great family owned business that has been around for years here in So. California. John and I both buy from the same store, but I think I am a bit closer to it than John at 20 miles from my house.
December 31, 20169 yr John from Canada and I share the wealth. Only here, it's fir. If it's not a tuba sumpin, it ain't lumber. Closest hardwoods are 150+ miles away. $.40 a mile? I can only dream.

Hey Dave, if you want to do over there just give me a call and we'll meet somewhere and I'll take ya. You're about 2 1/2 hours from me so you could meet me here. We could make a morning of it.

December 31, 20169 yr FML is my go to place for wood. They are an hour away from me, and that's a good thing...I could go broke if I lived any closer. They have an awesome selection of American made hardwood plywood as well (Columbia Forest Products) including the pre finished for cabinets..
December 31, 20169 yr That is an awesome looking shop. We had one just like it about two hours from me for years, then all of a sudden they closed up. Nothing like that around anymore. Have to drive almost to Kentucky to find a place like that.

They deliver to all the major cities around and might be close to your area. Only problem with that is you don't get to hand pick your boards. Not such a big deal with sheet goods.

I have a couple of projects coming up (as soon as I get the specs) and will need some more lumber. Be nice to do a face to face, and maybe have lunch (or donuts, or both ;-) )
