What's on your agenda this weekend!

Well well here we are again folks, getting ready to launch into yet another weekend of fun and shop antics! As is our tradition here on The Patriot Woodworker we want to know, what have you got planned for your shops this weekend, projects, jigs, maintenance, customer stories, and or, life in general? What the heck is going on with you all this weekend? Please post some progress images too if you can, we love to see your work! And we'd also love to see your trip to the beach, your outing for the day, how about a picture of you? Yes, we are nosy, because we care and we like to see just what the heck is going on.

Some happenings

  • As some of you may know, we now have our new store open again. This time our Patriot Woodworker T-Shirts are featured along with some wonderful warm Patriot Caps! Why are they called Patriot Caps? Well because some wonderful young lady's hand crafted them, for the purpose of supporting our friends at Homes for Our Troops. All the proceeds minus shipping costs are donated to Homes for Our Troops when you purchase a warm cozy hand made cap.
  • The proceeds from our T-Shirts go directly to supporting our community here, to help offset the costs of hosting fees and licensing dues.
  • Click on STORE and support a great cause!

Herb, or better known as @Dadio has introduced many of us to a bow sander. He has made a grip of these sanders for his buddies in his woodworking club. Way to go Herb! To see his topic on Bow Sanders click on the preceding link.

I love woodworking from the past, I was perusing YouTube and found this really neat old video for a public service message for Vocational Videos. It's a wonderful video.

Lastly

Have fun folks!!! Take care, be safe in all you do, and we look forward to hearing all about your weekend plans.

Taking Morris#2 to the upholsterers. Then a bit of shopping while in the "Big City" of Showlow. That will shoot today.

Tomorrow will be devoted to completing shop organization. Then it's on to finishing up on a maple and walnut jewelry chest. Installing the swinging earring holders is first up. Then hanging the doors.

I started a kitchen island this week.  3 of the 4 drawers went in without much trouble at all.  I spent about 2 days trying to get the 4th one to work right!  So while I had planned to be painting it this weekend, I am still in the construction phase...

Celebrating my dad's 86th Birthday this weekend. His actual b-day is the 15th, but this weekend works for all of the family.

Working on the case for the chess board . Got the finger joints done on the PC Omni jig . cut rabbit for the bottom and glued up , so is in clamps till I get out there today. Have to do trim for the top to hold playing board in, cut finger grooves on board  and finish epoxy fill on bottom of playing pieces.

Pictures of that sucker Gerald, please!

went dog sledding..

soaked in the hot tub...

started a snowball fight...

made a passel of chowder...

getting ready to head into town...

Done went to town. Chair unloaded. Wandered the aisles of the supermarket hunting for ingedients for my diet. Went to three places looking for erythritol. Got home and googled it (Phyl and I both forgot we could use the cell phone...duh) any way, it's just another sweetener. We have 4 brands/types in the house already. Waste of time. Couldn't find shirataki noodles, either. Bet amazon has 'em.

Day is done. Nap time.

I have two projects in the queue with one being a paid job and the other is labor free.  Our local library is in need of storage shelving and the head of the Library Friends group asked me to quote three 6 foot adjustable shelf cabinets.  Plywood pickup day is Saturday.  My paid job is a cabinet restoration and re-facing for a local contractor.   Actually, that one will start Monday but I'll think about it this weekend.

day 2 today of building a new bath vanity.  got the carcass done yesterday, got all of the drawer sides/front/backs cut today, got 5 drawers assembled (3 installed with glides), 6 more to do another day.  then i'll cut the drawer bottoms, get them all fit up, then take all the hardware off the carcass and start to paint the carcass.  also need to build the sub-base.

this is the easy part.  then i need to take out the old one, repair and patch the walls, paint the walls, finish tiling the floor under the vanity.... and then i can install my new vanity.  have the countertop in hand, still need to pick out a faucet and drawer knobs.

this is like work!

Wife had a business meeting from 10A-2PM on Northeast side of Indy....asked me to take her, since we had about 3/4" of snow then I could have the next 4 hours free... missed my turn to go to Woodcraft so drove on to Harbor Freight and "loafed" for a while, making a couple small purchases; made a couple of phone calls while sitting in parking lot there, grabbed some lunch, then drove to Rockler and "loafed" up & down all the isles there and chatting with some of the help.

Of course, once she was done and since we're already here, she had a few stops in mind she failed to mention previously:P...beat the PM rush hour out of Indy, stopped on the way for a few groceries, looked at a property daughter & SIL had toured...now home...waiting to hear from my brother if Mom was moved to rehab this PM.

Tomorrow, replace belt and idler on clothes dryer...way to cold for shop work this weekend..starting to get subtle hints about putting up the Christmas tree...;)

We're having our family Christmas dinner Saturday.  Made my siblings some potpourri bowls (with a twist) and will also take the ornaments and string tops I made to distribute too.

Every year I make two dozen ball and cup games and take them over to the volunteers at the local Akron Children Hospital for the kids that may be stuck there on Christmas.  I roughed out the blanks this Summer and will start tomorrow to finish turn them.

Friday night:  Two of the granddaughters have a piano recital

Saturday:  Taking three granddaughters to see Moana (movie), out to lunch, then back to the house to have them help decorate  our tree, wrap some presents, bake cookies, cinnamon rolls, German apple cake, and dinner rolls.  Then home for dinner.  Empty the mole trap -- caught a big juicy one that's been tunneling the front yard.

Sunday: Music program and breakfast at church, Lunch and Xmas party with the beekeeper's club, dinner and Xmas party with the Sunday School class.

Got some of my woodworking done daytime Friday

- Shaker peg rail for by the back door

- Started on the cutting table.   Legs all cut and top half-lap joints done

- Finish on the picture frame I'm doing for Xmas, got the glass cut and cleaned and ready to install the artwork

- Hung new towel bar in MBR

- Made and hung new shelf for SWMBO in MBR closet
