September 25, 20205 yr Author Bump to the top, nice series of images for anyone who may want to make a mallet.
September 25, 20205 yr John, I enjoyed following along on this build the first time, and still enjoyed it the second time. Have you seen the two Paul Sellers videos on making mallets? If you have watched any of his videos in the past, you know he gets a little long-winded, but when you have the time, they are interesting too. I'll post the links to these videos below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u31Ixu6mSHY Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UeOtTkW9oJw Part 2 Edited September 25, 20205 yr by PostalTom Identified which part is which.

I hope you all didn't think I was beating my own chest by bringing this back up, I just stumbled across it and I was looking at the images, and was saying to self, "self, those are some pretty images, bet some of the new folks may like to see a little bit of how to build one of these mallets". Thanks Tom, appreciate much.

To a certain degree, isn't that what we all do when we post pictures of our projects? As the saying goes, "When you've got it, flaunt it."
September 26, 20205 yr That is an interesting project John. Now that you have had a couple few years to give them a go, would/have you made any changes to them?

I have not Al, it may have crossed my mind to sell, but I'm thinking the market would be woodworkers, and they'd rather make their own? I made three, still have them!

To me they feel very comfortable, I use this mallet to chop mortises in my chairs, just the right weight and perfect angle on the mallet face. I don't even know what it weighs, but it sure feels good.
September 27, 20205 yr Thank you, John, for this thread and all the information. Thanks to all the contributors for all your shared information. Very interesting and informative. I really like those of Paul Sellers. The part about how they come apart is very appealing to me. Edited September 27, 20205 yr by FlGatorwood
