I tried turning some of the striped wood with the stripes and it came out good. Then I tried some against the stripes and it didn't work so well. The darker colors would bleed the dust into the lighter colors. I tried turning it as smooth as I could without sanding and it helped somewhat

Any ideas on how to minimize this bleeding?

I used carbide round, regular gouge and skew. I'm not saying I used them properly, I'm self taught. Which one would you use or suggest I use?

I was just thinking that the skew would "slice" away the material which might help lessen the finer particles which are being bled into the adjacent pieces. I've not tried this so this is just a guess.

If it's particles  coming off in the turning process and redepositing in the wood try an air gun.

I can't tell from the image but it may just bee bleeding of dye  from the manufacturing process.

If it's the latter, you may need a better supplier.

Its not bleeding, it is particle dust. Same as some hard wood I turn. I will try the skew again, maybe I wasn 't slicing properly or quit too soon.

Maybe try applying DNA after turning and sanding to try and get the dust out of the pores.  Just a thought.

A good blast of compressed air should remove most of the dust.

Another thing that might help although it is untried by me would be applying some sanding sealer before sanding it down. My theory is that it will fill the pores preventing the dust from getting into them
