Sweet set-up Bill. I like it. Perfect for most anything I would be doing in the near future. I like the ground clamp/re-bar anode set-up. Any particular reason you used the piece of ground rod for the hanger support or was it just something you had? What are the "isolators" at the bottom of your re-bar anodes? Look like old laundry detergent caps of some sort?...good idea though Assume you just suspend the plane(s) or whatever from the ground rod with wire; will insulated copper work OK. Suppose zip-ties would survive the bath? I'm now kicking myself in the rear. Saw a battery charger exactly like yours at a yard/garage sale this summer....it was $5-$7...don't remember exactly but less than$10. DUH, obviously wasn't thinking that day; probably the 90o+ & matching humidity warped my hard drive. Man, I'm really kicking myself...wish I hadn't seen the picture now...I remember the exact yard sale...even bought one of "my" B&D U-series drills there for $2...what's worse, the drill was right next to the charger...DOH...can't believe I passed that up. Maybe he didn't sell it...You watch for it down there...they were moving to FL...sick of the cold & snow here. We always have Borox & Arm & Hammer Washing Soda in inventory. My wife has used both for years as boosters/fresheners for liquid detergent. Larry's probably on to something about the water issue making one more effective than the other. Cal 1 Quote
Larry Buskirk Posted November 11, 2018 Author Report Posted November 11, 2018 (edited) @Grandpadave52, & @Stick486, I can just imagine Marks reply to your suggestions, "YOU WANT TO WHAT?" If I asked him that I'd better be ready to amscray in a big hurry. His Pole Barn is 60'X120' with 14' side walls. It also has a second floor loft the full length. He had it built with storage trusses. The section that he keeps his toys in is 30'X60', it is partitioned off with a solid wall which is what my truck is backed up against. The other wall along side my truck is metal but there is no way that he'll go along with cutting through either wall. I just don't see that happening at all . Among his toys is his 64 Ford Galaxy XL Convertible, his fishing boat, tools, etc. . Edited November 11, 2018 by Larry Buskirk Grandpadave52 and Cal 2 Quote

My wife has used both for years as boosters/fresheners for liquid detergent. Larry's probably on to something about the water issue making one more effective than the other. The ground rod was available already, and remember it is part of the electrical circuit. I use bolt tie wire (lockwire) and suspend the piece right from the bar. The battery charger clip goes anyplace on the bar. The other clip gets bolted to the top of one of the re-bars, which are electrically bonded together with a solid copper ground wire. The caps are the protective caps that you place on the end of exposed rebar to prevent impalement on a job-site. They are available at the BB with the rebar. The reason I use the caps is, that, it helps keep the anodes (re-bar) upright, and helps keep the piece being de-rusted from direct contact with the re-bar if it swings over for some reason. The whole set-up is pretty compact so the space is limited. You have to be careful not to let the item touch the anode directly. If you need more detail photos, just let me know. My neighbor has a 65 Galaxy XL Convertible, that may be a different body style though. You & Schnewj use washing soda. I used plain old baking soda. I am not sure what the difference in those two products are. I did a quick look to see if I could find a couple "before" pics - no luck, will require more time for those. I did find a couple "after" pics of some of the tool boxes I did; several of which I made new inner trays for. Larry Buskirk, p_toad, Grandpadave52 and 1 other 4 Quote

That Klein box looks new as does the "old school" Craftsman. Guess I'm going to have to rethink when I see old, rusty tool boxes at yard/garage sales. Thanks for the post.
