  1. I have a bathroom light that was installed in 1953, when the house was built. In all of the bathrooms, a 4-light medicine cabinet was installed above the sinks. One of the two side lights has stopped working and I can't access the medicine cabinet(has two of the left side lights) to check the wiring and can't remove the cabinet without major damage to the surrounding plaster. I can post a photo if this post is allowed, to show the problem. Any advice would be appreciated.
  2. I have had this "simple" upgrade on my list since changing the batteries out the first time! As part of the kitchen upgrade a few years back we installed a new sink and a new faucet. This particular faucet has an eye at the base to turn the water on/off by a wave of the hand in front of it (and it was installed pre-covid ). You likely know the type, the faucet itself goes up into a hook about a foot over the sink. When the control says "on", the water splashes all over... Anywho, our control for this rig is a small battery operated gizmo attached to the back of the sink base like so Not a very easy place to get to when batteries need replacing. Compound that with what I uncovered last December when the batteries needed changing. Oh, and did I mention that the batteries do not give any "heads up"? They just work, until they don't. Here are the RayOVac batteries I changed out. So, I asked the Mrs. to keep her eye out at yard sales for some toy that would use a 4 x AA battery box. Since I was actively looking, there were none to be had. I found what I needed at a remote control car hobby shop. The white wire is some auto speaker wire I had on hand. Yesterday while the Mrs. had gone to town I thought that would be a good time to tackle the project. I had earlier made a small picture shelf , so I got this done. I will not say it was a minimum of hassle, but I can now/in the future, easily change out the batteries with barely even bending over. I am happy with it. YMMV - it is tight quarters to work in there, and not a lot of extra wire at the control box.

    Kitchen Sink... slow drain

My wife and I recently moved into a mobile home and are loving it... most everything is working fine, but I've noticed that the kitchen sink drains very slowly, and tends to get some back-up when the dishwasher is running. My first guess was the catch, so I took that off and looked, but it was totally clean... then I unscrewed the air filter thingy just past the catch in the drain pipes, and tried running water... it drained very quickly with no problems. When I went to a store and bought a new air vent and installed it, the sink went back to draining slowly. Am I missing something? Something else I should check? Or is that just the way things are gonna be for us? Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

    Completed my vanity

Just got this installed, though getting it finished was a real exercise in patience. The varnish was slow to cure enough for the sanding routine I used. Anyway, it's a plan that was in woodsmith and I made a mirror to match.
