I’ve been waiting to get to my own closet since we moved in here. The existing closet is like all the other storage in this house. A study in tacky particle board. I started laminating up the first of the panels today. It will be maple panels with sapelle trim to match the rest of the house. Paul

Hello all. It’s been a while since I posted. I finished the interior door job finally and then took some time off to do some diving and sailing. But now it’s back to the house project. These are actually bins for my desk on the boat. Under the hinged lid has been sort of a catch all for junk and it is time to get it organized. Only took me 20 years to get to it ! From here it’s going to be closets for a while so I’ll be starting a closet thread in the next few days. Paul

Our next project is a linen closet. Took the old doors off and emptied it out today. Tomorrow demo. It will involve a drawer bank with aromatic cedar drawers, two banks of lazy Susan’s and shelving. We will use maple and sapelle. There will also be three sliding doors to match the doors we just finished. Paul

I’m getting a late start this year but it’s time to make some Christmas presents. First on the block is a movie poster which I am building a frame for. It’s for my daughter. It’s a movie poster for Roger Rabbit that is signed by all the artists involved with the movie. I’m using sapelle and will probably be using a lot of it for the presents this year. I have a ton of scraps left over from making the doors. Paul

Below is a star shaped bowl made entirely with the scroll saw, The woods used are sapelle and baltic birch plywood. The bowl consists alternating layers of sapelle and baltic birch plywood. There is just one ring that was cut and then glued on to the base. The bowl is just 4 inches in diameter and about 2 inches high. After sanding to 220 grit the bowl was sealed with a 75 / 25 pure tung oil and mineral spirit mix. After the mix set it was then sanded to 400 and a top coat of shellac was applied. Very easy to make. DW
