Greenwood Spoon Carving By: Emmet Van Driesche

Greenwood Spoon Carving By: Emmet Van Driesche I ordered this book beginning of summer and it came last week and I finally got a chance to unbox it and flip through the pages, it's a fun book, I am a big fan of Mortise and Tenon Magazine, and I like to acquire pretty much anything they put out there for us, and this was no disappointment at all, just as everything they produce or sale, it is top notch and great quality. The book is full of wonderful images and all kinds of information about the history and methods to carve greenwood. Thanks Mortise and Tenon! Some of you may have noticed I had a 34 inch water oak cut in my yard. Kept most of the wood. this is what the larger logs look like. So a friend wanted some quarter dawn blanks and I picked up a small leftover piece today about 10. I turned this bowl in about 90 minutes. Turned to about 3/8 and sanded to finish. Yes it will still need a finish sanding and I am hoping it goes to an egg shape. For me this is kinda of an experiment as until recently I did twice turn and used a tenon. Now using expansion mode and getting very good results. Not only that but have not had a 1/8 inch tenon break as yet.
