It appears that Festool has come out with a table saw, well a small one as it fits in a Systainer? Hard to get too much data on it. May not be available in US or Canada and might have some SawStop technology. Cordless job site saw? https://www.misterworker.com/en-us/festool/18v-4ah-cordless-table-saw-csc-sys-50-ebi-basic-576820/75577.html

Now, I wonder which is costing more...

The van or the contents? Good thing is you _might_ only have to buy the contents once and the van will need to be replaced in a few years. Business must be good if you can trash everything you have and start over with everything, including that $250 wrench set. https://www.protoolreviews.com/festool-systainer-systems-for-van-storage-solutions/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=milwaukee_leaf_blower_gets_a_massive_performance_upgrade_plus_the_latest_news_and_reviews&utm_term=2022-10-16 FWIW, I saw a video last night comparing a bunch of brands of open-end / ratchet box end wrenches from $4 to Snap On ones. Surprised I'd never heard of 2/3 of the brands (but them I'm not a wrench person too much). I think all but one or two were made in China or Taiwan. I was pleased to see that my inexpensive GearWrench came out very well in most categories of the test and Tekton that I have a few other tools also came out reasonably well for the price. SK that the local discount store carried when I was a teen (but never bought any) did well, but was much more expensive. -
Hmmm. I originally thought Systainers were a Festool thing. But lately, I've seen it offered by other companies, so I was confused. Now, I find out it's an independent company that partners/licenses to others, including Festool, Fein, Makita, Lamello, Haefle, Senco, Metabo, Wagner, Graco, Bessey, Panasonic, Husqvarna, Gorilla (Glue), and a bunch of others that I've never heard of. https://www.tanosus.com/100/En/HOME/Products.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=banner&utm_campaign=protools&utm_term=2021-08-11 I have one. Yes, one, that sits empty on the top of a shop cabinet.

Had a youtube video running and went to another room, came back and this was on. I noted the wall of systainers and thought green kool-aid. Working on an MFT, he pulls out a track saw. After mitering, I said to my wife, "10 to 1, he puts in Dominos." Check. Couple of Festool sanders with different pads, different sized Domino joiner, then a Festool drill. I lost mental track of how much money he had in just the tools he used. I don't know if he used a Festool wrench to get the bolt in or not, since I do not know when it was filmed and my attention was away at the time. (To be honest, though, he did also use a #4 plane and a drawknife that I don't think Festool makes, yet.) At close, they mention Festool was a sponsor. Gulp in surprise.

On second thought, I'm not doing outside jobs every day any more. Maybe I'll just wait for my existing set to wear out. I don't know, is Snap-On that expensive? https://www.protoolreviews.com/festool-premium-hand-tools-installation-kit/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=direct_to_consumer_boots_we_actually_recommend_plus_more_news_and_reviews&utm_term=2020-11-04

I got a Lee Valley ad today and one of the things was clearance items, and it listed "systainers" starting at $1.85. Well that sounded like a real deal for those things that generally carry a premium price. I'm looking down the list and they still seem dear, discounted a couple percent. At the very bottom are the "bins" (2x2x2-ish boxes) that are that price. Not drinking the green Kool-Aid today, thanks. Even the simple things are $42, and most things run from there up to several hundred dollars.

Festool- Made in Indiana
Grandpadave52 posted a topic in Machinery, Tools, Research, Reviews and Safety
From today's Woodworker Journal eZine...not that I'll be running over to buy one soon, but good to see manufacturing coming both to the U.S. and Indiana instead of the reverse. Their facility is in a large industrial complex just off I-65 about 25 minutes from the North side of Indy; about 35 minutes East of me. http://www.woodworkersjournal.com/festool-begins-guide-rail-production-america/-

Eurozone troubles and Festertool
Cliff posted a topic in Machinery, Tools, Research, Reviews and Safety
If you've been thinking of surrendering and paying the rather high price for a festool brand tool you might wait a bit. The Eurozone is on the cusp of falling into another recession. They may not but they may. If they do Festertool may cut prices It's complicated but: China's manipulating its currency, forcing others down lowering costs on Chinese export goods and raising import costs by extension Greece is expecting a boatload of money ( that nobody has to give) to find its way from ( mostly Germany) and the Eurozone to be squandered on stupidity in the islands. The Euro zone productivity failed to meet expectations last quarter . They expected 0.4% ( a pathetic amount) and they got 0.3% Euro Central bankers are edging closer to another of those destructive stimulus packages. All in all, it looks pretty dismal for the Euros. So they may be selling tools cheaper in the next few weeks -
