Ron, that is a cool tool indeed man. Nice and old, and American Made! Ron, from what I have seen the motor is mounted to a secondary base such as the bottom of the home made cabinet you may set the planer on. See image below, now that you do not have a factory stand for your planer, you can see the general location the motor needs to be at, you could easily construct a wood stand with the same configuration.

thxs John, found out its 50yrs old, they don't make replacement parts for it,that ok got a motor and a pulley,Craftsman said i might have to try a few different pulleys to get it to work right, but that's half the fun right, already drawing designs for the base .

Ron, Do you have the model number?

I'll see if I can find the manual for you.

yeah i sure do Larry,its 103 23900

It's going to be a grand project Ron, I would build a base with drawers and storage too while you are at it, make it a piece of art, contrasting woods etc. Have fun!!!

Great piece of machinery. They just don't make them like that any more.

Wow Ron, that is a really nice find. Keep us posted on the progress you make with it.

Another archived topic cleaned up and moved! I wonder how Ron fared on this restoration?
