Blanket Chest Arrived!!!

Featured Replies

I got the Cherry Blanket Chest shipped out last week and I have been worried about it getting damaged in shipping. Today I received an email from the person I was working with and she told me it arrived in perfect condition. She sent me a picture of the chest in it's new home.

I am so excited that it made it and it looks like I got the stain about right for the Sleigh Bed it is sitting at the foot of. Now I can breath a little. Shipped it on Old Dominion and they did an excellent job getting it there.

Whew (wiping brow), I knew you were sweating the shipping. Looks great and at home!

I'm glad it got there in good shape. The log cabin mail box I made for daughter was a different story!

Had UPS box it up so it was done "right". Between Mt. and Ca. they dropped it on the side. One of the long roof slats split and broke. Won't be too hard to fix but they're not real close!

Talked to UPS and had to jump thru some hoops but they did refund the shipping ($80) and what I told them I "sold" it to them for. On our next trip south I'll have to fix it.

Harry that is exactly what I was worried about. Not sure why I didn't other than just give out but I didn't take a picture of the crate I built for it. I ripped 2x4's and built a frame and then covered the frame with 3/8" plywood. The bottom was 1x4 treated and then built up on the ends and middle with two 2x4's. I put blocks on the bottom of the crate so they fit tight against the feet. That way it couldn't move left, right, front or back. I then took two ratchet straps across the chest, bolted them to the bottom and put cardboard and bubble wrap on the top. Ratcheted it down and it couldn't move.

But I was still worried it would get dropped and somehow bust the crate. I think I had more in the crate than the chest LOL.

Sorry how your went but glad they paid you for it.

Yet another wonderful piece of work by our own @John Moody.

Brought this 2014 topic up from the archives.

Perfect match.  Nicely done.  That goes for Old Dominion too.
