September 27, 20196 yr Popular Post I have 12 work benches. Almost all benches have a class 3 hitch on them. Makes a great way to put any tool on/off the bench fast...
October 3, 20196 yr Popular Post Here's a vise that I picked up this weekend for very little money. I'm told that this is a "removable" vise for farm/field work and that extra holders/bases could be purchased and placed in different locations. The vise can be swiveled and rotated 360 degrees, removed from the base, and used as a giant clamp.
October 3, 20196 yr "Giant" clamp seems like a bit of an understatement. Aren't you afraid it will break the end off that workbench?

October 3, 20196 yr Nice restoration. I've never seen one quite like that. Couod it be a blacksmith vise?
October 3, 20196 yr I'm thinking so. I have a large vise collection and this is the only one that has a sliding beam that has a locking pin. It would be a pain to put it in use. You need to pull the pin and try to find the size needed because the jaws only move about 1-1/2". I reminds me of a wood working pipe clamp.
October 4, 20196 yr Popular Post Heavy duty Vises above. My back says hell no I am not getting into this picking that up and putting it on the bench, get a forklift!!
December 22, 20196 yr You think thats heavy.... My big vise needs taken apart before I can even get it up on the bench....
December 22, 20196 yr I'll take this thread the other way, with a "Baby Bullet" 2 1/2" jawed swivel base. I inherited this from my long time co-worker/friend Ollie. I don't think it was ever mounted to a bench or used. I just looked on ebay!, and about fell over at what they're listed at.
December 22, 20196 yr I love those old Wilton bullet vises. I worked at one of our plants near KC back in the 80s, and there must have been 50 of the larger ones all over the plant. That plant was shuttered last year and I can't help but wonder what happened to those wonderful vises. Edited December 22, 20196 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr
December 22, 20196 yr @Fred W. Hargis Jr, Probably the same thing that happened when Chrysler closed up shop in Kenosha. Almost everything went to scrap. They had an auction, but you had to bid on large lots of stuff.
