Good Question!

When you started to write the last reply (quoted above) did the images and/or text automatically populate the reply?

If for whatever reason the post failed Steve, you have two hours to edit it.

Just a bit of advice...

Try writing it up with photos in word or a text doc or whatever so you can copy and paste into your post. This way if something goes wrong you have it elsewhere and it's a simple rinse and repeat to do it again. Just saying.

I did the same way as I always do,, as in every post BEFORE that one...Not going to bother redoing that post..just let it hang there...

@steven newman

Couple of things-

  1. Are you posting from a PC, Mac or phone?

  2. Have you logged out and logged back in? Have you shut down and restarted your computer?

  3. What browser are you using Chrome, Firefox, Edge or something else.

  4. Have you cleared the cookies and cache for this site on the browser you are using.

Send me a PM and I will try to help you work through this.

HP Pavilion, Win 11..Same as always, NOTHING was changed on MY end.

Firefox does daily updates, when I allow them.Yesterday, no text even though I type it out and SEE it in the post...until I hit "Post"

Today? Text does show up, but the box for the photo stay BLANK and says it is done ( so am I..)

Every other day..."Server Not Found" BS happens...

Again, I never log off of this site, and NOTHING has been changed on MY end...all seems to be with THIS site...

@steven newman For Sh*ts and Giggles, log out of the site, close down Firefox, completely shut down the laptop and then start every thing up again and let me know when it's ready.

Thanks Lew for all you help. I am sorry for the issues you are having Steven.

Yes, and the arrow at the top of your inserted image you can click and you can insert text above the image too.

So, the issue with the photo you tried load above is the name is unreadable by our software and most forums I'd wager, not just ours. The image is named THIN board Proj., plywood, marking out.jpg and in your example above you have a lot going on in the name such as commas, periods, all which is hard for the server to work with. Please check the name of your images before uploading to our server, the only place you should use a period is at the end to define the file extension, such as acmephoto.jpg. You can use dashes and underscores such as acme_photo.jpg. But it's not recommended to use a period in the middle of the name yet alone commas. Here are some reasons why.

Using extra periods can cause several issues:

  • Operating System Confusion: Many systems use the period to separate the file name from the file extension. Extra periods can confuse operating systems or image software regarding what the actual file type is.

  • Upload/Web Errors: Web servers and content management systems often fail to recognize files properly if there are extra periods in the name, leading to broken images.

  • File Truncation: Some programs (like Adobe InDesign) may cut off the file name entirely at the first period.

Thanks for hanging in there Steven, hopefully we are on our way to fixing your issues!

I think I might see part of the problem when images don't load

This is a picture of the image with its name at the top

As you look at the name there are 4 periods (.) and 2 "jpg" terms. Some software doesn't play nice when there is more then 1 period and more then 1 file extension (ex: jpg)

I imagine you are transferring pictures from your phone to your laptop before posting and maybe the transfer is adding the unnecessary periods and "jpg". Try renaming your images. For example, this image could be called "4thJUNSalesBreatDrill15GPmaybe.jpg" One period and one file extension- jpg.

As for the missing text. Still not sure why that happens but still working on it.
