ChinScratch Looks like it's that time of the week again.

Not sure what, if anything I'll get done here in the land that is "Two Weeks From Anywhere" with Black_Cloud forecast for most of the next few days.

That's on top of what already almost amounts to what is the average for the month.

So,

Second weekend of theater set build. I'm in charge as the manager is off. Major problem is we don't have any of the material we need to purchase, so we're reusing.

Got the grass removed from area to extend leanto . Now to remove some dirt so gravel floor can go in . But have to finish mowing this afternoon. Prepping for company tomorrow. Weather has been great here and the inch plus rain we got earlier this week was just enough to get by.

Getting finish on the mitersaw station counters. Started with the bottom. Will buff it after lunch and then get the top side.

Also hope to glue up the workbench top. Plan to double up the two butcherblock counter tops to give a 3 inch thick surface.

Major source of my supply chain! TwoThumbsUp

ChinScratch Let's see now, yeah we can use that, might be able to use this, not so sure if that will work or not. WonderScratch

I'm doing some Spring Cleaning today, tonight we have a Pot Luck Supper ( Bacon Warp Asparagus) for the town Firewood Wood Bank volunteers. Saturday is the town's Spring Firemen's Pancake Breakfast, ( No Donuts), with the first viewing of our new Fire Engine followed by a road trip to buy a load of old screws

And on Sunday another road trip to go to my Granddaughter's 4th birthday

Monday I rest.

I'd swear I replied to this thread earlier and my post seems to have gone "poof".

Yesterday evening I managed to till up a small (~'6x8') section of garden bed area by the raised garden beds since my wife brought home several "cold season" plants (broccoli, brussel sprout, cauliflower, cabbage) without prior notice. It was probably too wet, but happy wife, happy life. I did get a baked pork chop, rice, and carrots for a late supper plus a piece of chocolate cake as payment, so there is that.

Put in for a personal day off today😉 after the tilling/planting; besides it's rained on/off all day. Oldest grandson has a home baseball game at 5:30P weather permitting. Oldest granddaughter is coming home tonight for the weekend; youngest grandson has a home travel league soccer match tomorrow evening and again Sunday afternoon; Church Sunday AM; Sunday PM celebrate youngest grandsons 12th birthday.

Well, Friday afternoons I usually go to the county senior center to play bridge in the afternoon. The last couple of weeks, there have been a pair of Canada geese in the parking lot. Apparently in the last week, they have gotten a bit more aggressive.

Going over to sons house (They bought it Friday before turkey day last year) Got the pool people coming in Monday, and just discovered that the time clock for the pump was installed by the previous owners. They have done some of the worst hack jobs, I’ve ever seen. Gonna see what I need (voltage and amperage) and order the correct Intermatic time clock. (They are built like tanks!), after that I have the rest of the weekend (so far!) to work on my friends cash box. See how competent I am at lining up the dowels on top and bottom. That’s probably gonna determine my emotions for the weekend! :)

All I have planned for the weekend is going to a birthday party Saturday for my 11 year old granddaughter.

The last couple of days I have been working on a birthday present for her. A couple of years ago she was crazy about wolves............now it foxes. So I made her a fox box.

And filled it with 5 rolls of quarters.

Somebody’s got a really nice grandpa!

@bubbakes ; Very nicely done and awesome creativity on the box and great idea to fill it. It's fun to be a grandpa when they're at this age isn't it?

@Grandpadave52 it is definitely fun.

I have to ask..........who is bubbakes? 😁

Nice work on the keepsake box @Bubba . We've been cleaning the flower beds and cutting the grass, Thursday was the 4th time. My older brother is coming for a visit today so I can pass off some Hosta & Rose-a-Sharon. Moved all the porch furniture from the shed to the porch & it's time to start watching the world go to work in the mornings. Enjoy your weekend!

As some of you may recall, I bought a couple of the butcher block countertops on sale for use with my mitersaw station.

20260411_100633.jpg

I ended up going with a doubled plywood for the counters for that project and so have the two butcher block countertops staring at me waiting for a use. They are 1.5 inches thick, and I'm thinking of gluing them together to form a 3-inch counter that I would use as a top to a workbench. Although I don't ever see me becoming a hand tool only woodworker, I do try some tasks...but often with frustration as I don't have optimal ways to secure boards so hope this would allow for dog holes, vises, etc. I like the idea of a 3-inch top (seems like 2-4 inches is typically recommended for a workbench with dogs holes and hold downs) but question if there are any issues I'm missing in gluing up the two butcher block counters (i.e., wood movement).

Thought I would ask here so I don't miss a consideration that is obvious to those with more experience. THANKS!

NOTE I have seen comments of sheets glued like this and when cut some time later the glue in center still not cured. You will want to connect with screws to secure the contact. If you use brass screws from the topside and countersink them you will be safe . Contact of tools with brass will not harm tools. Just plan your screw pattern so it does not get in the way of your dog holes.
