Friday November 21st, 2025- What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

I "ain't" no @Larry Buskirk nor have I ever played him on TV mostly because I don't have nearly enough hair but I'll do my best to stand him for this week. Hope he's doing OK; been missing for a couple weeks.

Busy early part of the week for me but kinda' under the weather the past couple days or so. Still trying to adapt to a new medicine for the neuropathy in my feet and legs. That started as a result of the back surgery four years ago but has been much more pronounced since last years bladder surgery and the strokes. Anyways, good thing I haven't had any heavy mining machinery sitting around for me to operate after I take the meds.

So, what's on your agenda for the weekend? Big plans in the shop, outdoors or with family? Inquiring nosey minds want to know. Well that and I don't get out much so whatcha' up to?

It has been quite a day here. Started with one of Mimi’s friends calling with a phone problem indicating she had a virus. Two hours later got things sorted out.
Another of Mimi’s friends had dropped off an ailing laptop last night. Either a bad battery or charging circuit- that can happen when you trip over the charger cable and pull the laptop onto the floor. Spend time looking up a suitable replacement.
A friend of mine came to replace a loose shingle. Ladders and cussing involved. I’m not allowed on the roof anymore.
“Someone” bought outdoor Christmas lights for the tree in the front yard but didn’t like the white electric wires so a different someone is painting them brown.
And in the midst of all that I am working on a gift for an administrator who left our school.

Nice of Mimi someone to give of her their time to paint all those wires.😆

Dealing with leaves that keep coming down. All the woods around our property are lovely, until fall and the ongoing leaf chasing. I've done some, but my husband has been working on that a lot.

Also continuing to work through shop reorganization which now also involves our vehicle garage as some items need to be moved there. Lot of pieces still need to fall in place. Good opportunity to throw out some stuff that somehow accumulated. 🙄

Estate sale this morning . Found a camo jacket with orange vest which followed me home. A small bolt cutter, Diamond hone which looked interesting and safety glasses. Afternoon finished shop lghting  and it is like daylight plus when all turned on. The rest of the day moved the TS just a little and started setting up pipes for the DC. Problem is it just feels like I have never done this before as it has been about 20 years.Hope to at least get enough done on that tomorrow to use it on lathe and TS. By the way I had already cleaned the pleated filter which was not a instantaneous task.

Spent most of Thursday in Newman's home town at the hospital there. Marie had a "spinal nerve stimulator" implant done..a set of wires implanted in the spine that are supposed to shock the pain away. The surgeon told me this was the last trick he had to help her get back pain relief....so I guess this was the last back surgery she'll ever have. We won't know if it works for a few weeks waiting for the wounds to heal. As for me i had an MRI yesterday (undergoing hearing tests for my new hearing aids that i don't yet have) and I'm pretty sure that thing sucked ALL of my magnetic personality out since I was a little grumpy for the rest of the day. (laughing emoji here). Even the dog noticed it. Anyway, I'm putzing around with working on a pet urn in the shop (flatwork) and intend to try some ornaments (lathe) assuming I'll get any time out there. With Thanksgiving coming in rapidly I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time in the kitchen over the next several days.

Fred, hope Marie feels better soon & this is the last surgery she'll ever need.

New water heater is in place and things are back in order in the basement. Patti has started her baking for thanksgiving, pumpkin rolls, and I am just staying out of the way. Tuesday, we pick up our meats for the holiday which I'm sure will be here and gone quicker than we can prepare for. Have a great weekend.

I had one of these done a year ago to help relieve chronic knee pain.  They had to calibrate it a while after installed.  Their goal was 50%+ improvement and I think I got that.

Nothing planned for the shop today but have tickets for a Canadian Brass concert in Dayton tonight.

My daughter and husband, and his brother and wife bought a house near Univ. of Cincinnati for their six kids, who will all go to UC, to live in as needed and perhaps rent out a bedroom or two to friends.  UC has grown a lot and housing for students is a high demand issue.  Both my son-in-law and his brother are MDs that work for UC, so their kids get free tuition.   The house is maybe 100 years old, so we're doing some work to spruce it up.  My wife and I worked on drapes this week and next (probably) is to fix up and clean the kitchen cabinets.

Went to play bridge at a weekly event at the county senior center yesterday.  We get about 3-4 tables each week. There was a new guy show up.  Turns out he and I worked for the same company 25+ years ago.  There were maybe 100-150 people that worked in the local HQ.  Small world.

Not much going on for me. I'm thinking about making a side snipe plane. I've been tinkering making various prototype ideas. Finding dimensional info and not owning an antique one makes it particularly difficult to make. I'm also in the process of making a foot stool/ leg rest. I've done most of it and now need to get material for doing upholstery. I bought the foam already.

Cheers!
