Popular Post Gunny Posted September 16 Popular Post Report Posted September 16 One of the things I enjoy about this site is people helping someone out. Most times it is advice on a project. But sometimes it is tools or supplies. Had a issue with not being able to get a Sander Sitter from Canada because, yeah tariffs. Companies just don't want to deal with it, and I get it. But @HARO50 really helped me out getting them sent to him, then sent to me way down here in Georgia. Arrived today, safe and secure, a lifetime supply because who knows how long this mess lasts. And I really appreciate that!!! lew, steven newman, Al B and 5 others 3 1 4 Quote
Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted September 16 Popular Post Report Posted September 16 Accomplished zip on Saturday as storms moved in before I got started doing anything; close call averted. Sunday afternoon, did some follow-up work on my granddaughters car. Kept getting an ABS wheel sensor code on the LF with the ABS light coming on from time to time. I'd installed a new ABS sensor when I did the front brakes. The old sensor had a thin, aluminum shim under it so I put it under the new one. Apparently it didn't need it; removed it and all is OK now. Today I rebuilt (shade tree engineering with on-hand inventory) her fuel door hinge. The pin has rusted away; a couple of #6 screws, flat washers, fiber washers and 4 nuts to double nut each screw; installed it when she got home from work. It works like a new one. Youngest grandson had a late soccer home match tonight under the lights; they lost 2-3; another Wednesday night. A variety of outdoor projects on the agenda. Wednesday I finally have my first appointment with the "Balance Doctor" Specialist (Neurologist). I've been waiting since late May for this appointment. Hopefully he can get to the root cause of my gyroscope being severely out of whack. Vertigo like symptoms but apparently not vertigo as all treatments for that have come up empty. The first symptoms began mid February and vary in severity; some days fine; others mild and still others, I wobble like a drunken sailor when I get up from a chair or laying on my back. I've read some post stroke effects may not surface for 4-6 months. The nurse told me to plan for at least a 2 hour appointment; first 1-1/2 hours for various testing, then at least half an hour with the doctor. I'm worried he's gonna tell me my donut days are over Al B, lew, HARO50 and 5 others 8 Quote

Did you have Covid? Her nurse friends have mentioned there is a connection between balance and some Covid patients. But remember, I'm not a doctor and don't even play one on TV. First time was oddly enough three years ago today; that one was the worst. Second time was about a year later. Would not had known it had my wife not made me test for it. I'd definitely had far worse colds than that except for the fatigue and aching. IDK, maybe? Thanks for the suggestion. Worth questioning the specialist tomorrow. Current symptoms seem to come out of the blue; felt fine up to that point. At first, I attributed maybe to the anemia I was battling after the stroke as did my doctor. Once that was under control, she addressed it as vertigo and an inner ear infection. Guess I'll learn something tomorrow Larry Buskirk, HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 3 others 6 Quote
Popular Post Al B Posted September 16 Popular Post Report Posted September 16 (edited) Hoping it's not meneres disease. I suffered for many years with that. It is an ear disease that comes on suddenly and violently. Doctor said there was no cure for it but I was treated with valium. The doctor said they don't know why the valium worked , but it definitely helped. It felt like I was being flung away. That was what caused me to be forcibly retired from the shipyard because I wasn't allowed to work in high places. Edited September 16 by Al B Gerald, Larry Buskirk, lew and 4 others 7 Quote

Guess I'll learn something tomorrow The local hospital set up a "dizzy clinic"- that's what the nurses called it but I'm sure it had a more technical name. Not exactly sure what they did there.
