Popular Post Larry Buskirk Posted August 8 Popular Post Report Posted August 8 Friday again folks. The heat/humidity is back here "Two Weeks From Anywhere". Did manage to get some of the mowing done. The jungle/mosquitoes continue to win. Dug out my 10'6" trim break yesterday to make up facia trim for Bruce's building next door. We cut a vent slot along the east side facia of the north addition a couple of days ago. The trim will be two piece due to the width of the facia and the fact we'll be incorporating full length venting to the approximately 90-foot part of the building. I'll try to remember my camera when I go over today. That's my next few days of my schedule, What's on Your Weekend Agenda? HARO50, HandyDan, Grandpadave52 and 3 others 5 1 Quote

Popular Post lew Posted August 8 Popular Post Report Posted August 8 USPS text says the parts to repair/modify the old clock radio should arrive today. That should keep my garage engineering thought processes engaged for a while. Have to unpack from last nights club demo. I suspect there will be another road trip, to the malls, to scope out more attire for the upcoming wedding HandyDan, Grandpadave52, Larry Buskirk and 5 others 8 Quote
Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted August 8 Popular Post Report Posted August 8 The mow-a-thon continues on. Lack of mower contributions plus a surprise rain on the parade has extended the event; may attempt replacing front brake pads and rotors on granddaughters car over the weekend; need to get TPMS valve stem replaced on my car to shut off the warning light. Need to run a few errands which may include donut procurement. Church services Sunday. steven newman, Gerald, Larry Buskirk and 2 others 5 Quote

Popular Post John Morris Posted August 8 Popular Post Report Posted August 8 Mama and daughter have been gone all week, trekking across the great south on their way to Aiken SC. Loaded up daughters car, and a one way rental SUV with her stuff, and one dog, and they both took off this past Sunday morning with daughter leading the way in her car and mama right behind. They went through AZ, TX, LA, AL, GA, and today they got to their destination. Dropped the doggy off at the local kennel for a bit till my daughter gets squared away and starts college at University South Carolina Aiken. Daughter will be staying with long time family friends till she gets an apartment of her own. The dog just has to be in the kennel for a couple weeks cuz they have a dog staying with them for a couple weeks, and that dog don't get along with other dogs, then she'll spring her dog from jail and get her back in her possession. Mama will be flying back home next Friday. So this weekend, yard work! And it's hot! I must admit, I am enjoying my solidarity for now, it's kind of fun, plus I have our German Shepherd and two cats to keep me company, and I can eat icecream for breakfast if I want to Picture is right before they took off, this dog belonged to my dad who passed away last May. He asked if I'd take care of her, her name is Suzie, we took care of her. Our girl came out of the Army last Sept, and Suzie has been by her side since she came home to stay with us till now, they became best friends and our daughter loves her, and wanted Suzie to move out east with her, so there she goes! I know her Grandpa is smiling down at his beloved Susie and his Grand daughter being best buddies. And, here is the car loaded down with daughters stuff, mama drove that one! So the red car is the dedicated Suzie mobile, and the other car the dedicated moving rig. HandyDan, Gerald, lew and 6 others 6 1 1 1 Quote

Popular Post Gerald Posted August 9 Popular Post Report Posted August 9 @John Morris You do know that it is difficult to go from LA to AL with out going thru MS! Today got insulation in shop. Meanwhile I pulled the last of the nails from the scrap lumber, salvaged some ply from cabinet builds, set more bricks in roof drip area, and last but not least moved almost 2 loads of dirt to reduce grade at rear of shop. Boy that is a lot of dirt. Ordered mini split for shop. Tomorrow start on putting up ply on shop walls. Larry Buskirk, Grandpadave52, lew and 2 others 3 2 Quote

You mean us from the daughter? When we first move their Ron we'll be in the same town, Tiffany will be going to college there for conceivably 2 to 3 years, even though she knocked out a semester while here with us since last Sept, appears the SC Uni system don't recognize her college credits from the CA system, I don't blame them! Fortunately though she racked up some college credits while in the Army and they are going to recognize those, and she'll start off as a Sophomore. But ya, when we do move there in early Spring (fingers crossed) we'll be hanging out with our family friend in Aiken, for maybe six months while mama and me travel around the south from there to the north into lower VA, somewhere in between those states we'll find our town. Eastern Tenn is on our list too. No matter where we land, for now we'll be within a days drive from our kid. Just by Zillow and online town shopping, we are leaning towards lower NC and upstate SC, but of course that very well may change once we get on the ground and start pounding the HWY's and gettin into the little towns everywhere. Tenn is attractive for their no state tax, but I'm afraid there may be too many CA folks there already that we are trying to get away from. Sorry you are dealing with that Tenn. We drove through Eastern Tenn last year when looking for a college for our daughter, the route took us up through Bristol and while up there we crossed the state line to Abingdon VA and loved it, there is just so much to explore, it's overwhelming.
