Popular Post Larry Buskirk Posted August 1 Popular Post Report Posted August 1 Friday again folks! Been trying to play catch-up to the yard, it's still winning. That's around helping Bruce with building maintenance and improvements. We're in the process of adding two more Cupolas with furnace blowers to help rid the attics of heat buildup. (Big roofs=Big heat buildup) That's about it here, What's on Your Weekend Agenda? John Morris, HARO50, Grandpadave52 and 4 others 6 1 Quote
Popular Post lew Posted August 1 Popular Post Report Posted August 1 We've been invited to a wedding, later this month- the continuance of the emergency bridal shower gift festivities. So... for some reason, unknown to men, there has to be a completely new wardrobe. Hours spent traveling to all the malls, in a 100 mile radius, scoping out the "perfect" matching attire. Not too glittery as to overshadow the brides mother but nice enough to wear "if we ever go on a cruise and eat at the captain's table"- which never happened to me on the aircraft carrier (Captain's Mast- different story). Point here is, I doubt I will be doing much work in the shop in the foreseeable future. HARO50, Grandpadave52, HandyDan and 5 others 3 5 Quote
Popular Post Fred W. Hargis Jr Posted August 1 Popular Post Report Posted August 1 With the break we have in the weather, I'm attempting to catch up in the yard. I only have a few days since I'll be back in the medical whirligig we seem to spend all our time in anymore. HARO50, lew, steven newman and 3 others 1 5 Quote

Popular Post kmealy Posted August 1 Popular Post Report Posted August 1 Going to Ohio State Fair Saturday to do judging for state woodworking 4-H projects. Always a lot of very inspiring ones come in. This year I'm doing 14+ age, third year projects. Thankfully, the weather has turned very nice. Trying to decide what "fried" delicacy I'll spring for. Nope, head for the ice cream at the dairy barn. steven newman, Zack, Grandpadave52 and 6 others 9 Quote
Popular Post Bubba Posted August 2 Popular Post Report Posted August 2 My daughter and granddaughter and I have rented a cabin in East Texas. This was one of my late wife's favorite get aways spots and since her birthday is Monday we are here to celebrate her. It was nice this evening sitting on the porch and watching the lightning show in the distance. I hope you all or yall have a good weekend. steven newman, lew, Zack and 4 others 3 2 2 Quote
Popular Post Grandpadave52 Posted August 2 Popular Post Report Posted August 2 Thankful for the cool spell after three+ weeks of living in a blast furnace. Temperature today dropped like a commuter on the interstate just spied a trooper behind a billboard. Began D1 of the mowathon today. Saturday AM, a few errands; PM will be D2 of the mowathon. Church services Sunday AM; Annual back to school Family Fun night at the church in the evening. I'll be inspecting for rogue donuts. HARO50, Larry Buskirk, Zack and 4 others 5 2 Quote
Popular Post JWD Posted August 2 Popular Post Report Posted August 2 I need to catch up on house cleaning, even by my bachelor standards it's getting messy! Been busy with work all week, started with a trip over to Tucson last Sunday to get a big part modified in a vertical turret lathe. I did sneak a bit of woodworking in there at work, making a framework to hold the part on a pallet at enough of an angle that it could be carried in a pickup truck. Today I'm fixing an old carving for a neighbor - a poorly supported shelf fell on it and broke a few parts. Hoping for an easy and mostly invisible fix with some hide glue. I'm hoping to also get some time in working on a batch of grips - paying work, so DUL, but something I need to get after. Last Saturday had some fun in it though, I helped a guy work on the old Allis-Chalmers road grader we have for neighborhood road maintenance. The steering is very sloppy, and we needed to replace one of the cute little U-joints it has in the linkage between the steering gearbox and steering wheel. Next up we need to adjust the box, that is going to be much more involved as it is in a really tight spot and probably hasn't been removed in the 70 year life of this machine! lew, Larry Buskirk, Fred W. Popular Post John Hechel Posted August 2 Popular Post Report Posted August 2 I've been so busy that I haven't even had time to lurk, much less post. Yard work for me right now is just a quick mow down the weeds and get back to the shop. back to back shows had eaten up 2/3rds of our inventory. added to replacing that, back in March we signed on to make some wooden signs for a local brewery as a way to fill some time in our shop. Those went from making 50, to now making 500 and on. so While I'd love to sit here, It's get my A... back to work time!!! Grandpadave52, HARO50, Fred W. Hargis Jr and 5 others 6 2 Quote

Nope, head for the ice cream at the dairy barn. Had some good entries in the class that I judged. The fair was a zoo. Parking lot filled at 2 pm Friday and 1:40 Saturday. It was tough to walk thru there that was filled with people moving and people just standing, strollers, mobility carts, people on their phones, people waiting in line for food. When I left a little after 5:30, there were at least 100 people waiting in line in one of the four or so gates. It was hard to get out of the parking lot as there was a steady stream of pedestrians and drivers that didn't know where they were going. The interstate was backed up exiting from 17th street all the way back to downtown. And the options of fried food did not disappoint. Popular Post Al B Posted August 3 Popular Post Report Posted August 3 (edited) My daughter who lives in Michigan is visiting. She decided she wants an old entertainment center that I built several years ago to take back to Michigan. Looks like it will fit into the SUV so it will be going home with her. Still in great condition so I hope she will enjoy it. Sue has a few things that I made for her, notably a jewelry box, a couple of bandsaw boxes and a hutch. I hope Bill, my son -in-law can handle it. I can help with the heavy looking on. Edited August 3 by Al B Fred W. Hargis Jr, HARO50, lew and 3 others 3 2 1 Quote
