May 12, 20251 yr Popular Post It was a productive weekend for me, all things considered. I finished redoing my lumber storage and managed to get the melons, tomatoes and some corn planted in the garden. While i still have a ton of yard stuff to do, it looks like rain this week so I might get back to my displays for the women's quarters I've been trying to work on.
May 12, 20251 yr Popular Post Got the garden veggies in the ground. Need to run to Lowes for another pack of Cilantro seeds to replace the one that was empty when I opened it. Pool setup next. Than sycamore will be spalted by the time I get around to getting it
May 12, 20251 yr Popular Post Been busy getting new roll cart organized for use. Harbor Freight had these on sale from $599 down to $470.
May 12, 20251 yr Popular Post Totally unproductive weekend for me. Driving back from Flagstaff all day Saturday and recovering from the drive and doing some house cleaning Sunday. After driving past the Petrified Forest, I found the Petrified Lumberyard in Holbrook Closer to the Petrified Forest, I saw a really nice big bandsaw: Probably could have walked up to the gate to take the picture, but I figure don't go past the sign is a good rule of thumb. In that bandsaw is a big chunk of petrified wood, but the whole place had a very overgrown and abandoned look so I'm not sure it was still in use.
May 12, 20251 yr Popular Post How about that, I would have never thought you could saw petrified wood.

That's where I buy my manzanita roots from- Jim Gray's Petrified Wood Company.

Lots of manzanita nearby Holbrook, an hour or two drive over to south of Flagstaff or down over the Mogollon Rim where you start finding it. I don't remember seeing any up on the flats where Holbrook is, but it might be there too. Arizona is lousy with the stuff! I even find a tiny bit of petrified wood over near my house in NM - all small stuff compared to AZ but still pretty cool.
