May 9, 20251 yr Running a bit late here this morning, but at least I remembered to correct the date this week. Here in the land that's "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're still about "Two Weeks" behind weather wise as usual. So maybe that will allow me to get caught up with the stuff from "Two Weeks" ago. Oh Wait! It's "No Mow May". That ought to count for something. So, while I take the Wife's phone out to ID plants, What's On Your Weekend Agenda?
May 9, 20251 yr Spent the last two days hacking down the overgrown yard; some of it 2x. Time to start over with rain in the daily forecast Monday-Thursday of next week. The mower deck won't raise any higher. Heading out in a bit for a couple errands; still have domestic duties to complete. Tomorrow AM, season finale for spring soccer; can't say I'm sad about it. Hope to get at least two more raised garden beds set and the 4 current ones ready. Service the mower, replace the wheel barrow tire, pick up some more sticks, see if woodchipper will start, get a couple weedeaters and chainsaws ready and both vehicles need serviced are in the queue. Nothing fun-shop related. Sunday, church services, Mother's Day events and SIL's birthday celebration will wrap up the weekend. Donut expect any one will be serving doughnuts though.

May 9, 20251 yr Popular Post Couple of nice days between each rain event. Ready to put veggies into the garden but a little muddy today. Trying to find the gumption to go get some sycamore and make a couple of wave bowls.

May 9, 20251 yr Popular Post I was able to mow today, good thing too. The grass was taller than our little dog in some parts of the yard. I also was able to get my lumber storage changed from howizontal to vertical. I had to build a crib for the new arrangement, and i put in some blocking to (I hope) alleviate the problem of boards bowing. In the pic of the crib you can see the horizontal 2x on the OSB. It's positioned to support the back of an 8 1/2' board. The OSB is to minimize damge to the drywall. In the lumber pic you can see a 2x laying across the ladder steps, that's because I haven't got the safety chains finished yet. The boards are standing at about 85°, so they could fall forward easily, I'll have chains to catch them if that happens.
May 10, 20251 yr finished the wig stand and started the finishing. Pulled a few things out of the totes to sell at Demo Day at the MS Craftsman's Guild tomorrow . Have started packing up some things in the shop and remembered all the nice short pieces I do not want to burn ao put together a box and boy is that heavy. The bad part is it may take 2 or 3 more boxes.
May 10, 20251 yr @Fred W. Hargis Jr. Nicely done. May take up a little floor space but much easier and safer to access material. Hopefully, no more black eyes now.

Found a "Rattlesnake Master" (Eryngium yuccifolium) in the yard yesterday. It can stay where it is close to the west edge of the yard due to being a difficult plant to move. Been having to dig up tons of "Ohio Buckeye" seedlings that I have no idea where the heck the squirrels found them. Don't remember running across any "Horse Chestnut" trees in the immediate area. Don't need any 60' tall by 30' wide trees in the "Butterfly/Chaos Garden".
May 12, 20251 yr Popular Post Traveled 750 miles, thru central Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin almost up to UP for a grandson's wedding. It was at a church camp where they met a few years ago, and we rented a very nice cabin for the stay. Since we lived in Illinois and Wisconsin in the mid 1970s, brought back some memories.
