May 3, 20251 yr Popular Post I’ll get some random things done outside today. Tomorrow it’s supposed storm, so I’ll get to be in the shop. I picked up a bunch of old wooden moulding planes on ebay. Probably tinker with those and work on finishing the table I’ve been restoring.

I had a shiner like that once because of my bad hearing. My wife said shut up and I thought she said stand up. 😁
May 3, 20251 yr Author Popular Post I've had a couple of shiners like that, but the other guy ended up looking worse.

May 3, 20251 yr Popular Post Thank you guys, I am pretty happy with it. Now I can leave a dedicated resaw blade on my General 690 and run a 1/4" 4 TPI on this one. Or whatever 1/4" stock I have around, I'll have to go look. Here's another pic, I wiped all the leaked out oil up and even found the part I thought I had to make (blade tension adjuster shaft), it was in the base. The guys who shipped it did their best, but they really didn't know how to ship something this heavy. When they put it on a pallet it was laying on it's back (that's good) wrapped in bubble wrap (good) with narrower pallets on either side (good) and the whole thing wrapped up in black plastic (also good). What was missing was screws holding all the pallets together, or even steel banding. Only one of the side pallets made it here, with the saw sitting on that and an ABF ratchet strap holding it down. Bubble wrap intact, but most of the black plastic gone, gearbox oil everywhere (on it's back the breather is on top). So I was a little grumpy about having to make another adjuster shaft, but since I had the difficult to find parts - the spring and tension indicator - a shaft and knob would be no big deal in the balance. I was very pleased to find them, some guy at ABF in Dallas must have known what they were and stuck them inside when they strapped it down. So just one bent shaft on the wheel tilt adjustment, threaded 3/8-24. I can cut down a socket head cap screw for a new one of those, I had one on my jointer fence lock as a temporary handle (just have to find it!). Gearbox oil was dark and nasty anyway, I don't mind going to the auto parts store for a quart of 40 weight to replace it. The factory label inside says blade length is 94"-96", no idea why someone thought 93.5" was correct. I'll make up a 94" and see how it fits. I had the front upper cover off in those other pics from the back. I didn't want the strap to tweak the hinges of course.
