Friday April 4th, 2025-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Friday again folks.

Have to run the car in for emission testing today, other than that waiting to see if the yard dries up enough to go out and do some yard work.

Have several areas of standing water so I doubt it will dry up enough today.

Other than that, I've been going through a few boxes of computer parts to see what I've got to upgrade one of those laptops that I'm loading Linux on.

What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

No yard work here, still too wet and I guess will stay that way for awhile. Hope to finish a small table in the shop and I'm trying to get some more wood off a FM listing.

Brother is coming for overnight visit and we have a family thing tomorrow.

I’m cleaning up my chainsaw to go over and help my brother in law clean up some fallen branches, then to Walmart for supplies. No much to do in the shop without power. Day 6 and counting.

Made feeble attempts this week to pick up sticks when it wasn't raining, storming or the wind tunnel operating. Uprighted the yard swing & frame for the 6th time in the past few weeks. Put out the rain gage yesterday; sounds like we'll need it over the weekend; hope I remember to empty it or bring it indoors Monday when we drop below freezing plus not the right tool to measure snowfall.

Domestic duties today; haven't received orders from HQ for tomorrow; church Sunday. Anyone know of a source for donut seeds?

Waiting to be given assignments. Supposed to shower/rain thru Saturday.

I did get the Mock Orange bush trimmed and the garden rototilled before it rained. Still need to get some fertilizer on it. Looks like the autumn garlic planting was a bust, again. Two years in a row with very little return. Even bought bulbs the last time instead of planting from last years crop. The lilac bush has some dead branches that I have to remove with the chainsaw.

:ChinScratch: Looks like upgrading from the hard disk drive to a solid state drive, and a better wifi card did the trick on this old notebook. It's plenty fast now. :D

I have 3 small projects in the que this weekend. Finished one today and got half way through the second one. Would probably have finished the second one if I hadn't had a senior moment and made a 2 3/4" measurement into a 2 1/2" build. I came real close to throwing the thing in the trash and starting over then I decided NO I am going to fix it not trash it. If I finish the second project tomorrow and feel it is worthy of takin pictures I will post them tomorrow.

Wonder if that would work for me? Pretty sure my operating system needs a major upgrade too.

I have company coming next week, so I'm cleaning the house today.

Tomorrow I have a refresher training and pack test for wildland fire recert.  This is the second driest winter/spring I've seen here since I moved from AZ 20 years ago.  So far no fires have gotten out of hand but it's going to be ugly if one does.

Been working on some cedar to prep for building a picnic table. This was accross the road in a neighbors yard. Looked good til I cut into it. Had to leave the bottom  6 foot  due to rot. Seems every time I thinl I have a good piece there is a rotten spot. If I do not get enough out of the large bottom I still have 4 smalletr logs at the Ranch plus a couple we already had down. This is more of a pain thanthe two oaks I ripped up.

Well it took me till today to finish projects 2 and 3.

I would like to see if one or more of you can tell me what it is before I divulge the intended purpose of project #2.

Eschew sesquipedalian obfuscation when a diminutive locution will suffice; alternatively, espouse elucidation.

Thanks @Grandpadave52 for participating (another big word), I think your guess was more creative than my project. :Praise:

Recently my daughter asked if I would help her do a garage sale at my house, she lives in an apartment. SO I thought, "We need a cash box.

When planning the build I found that if I laid the bills flat the box would have to be about 12" long and almost as wide. Too big of a footprint I thought.

Then I thought :WonderScratch: many people call dollar bills folding money. So here is the finished project.

With this design I could pull all the bills of each denomination, $20, $10, $5, $1, out of the compartment at once for making change. And speaking of change, 25¢ 10¢ 5¢ 1¢, in order to make them easier to get out of their compartment I glued a triangular piece of wood the width each compartment to the front and lined each compartment with a thin piece of plastic (possibly PVC) to make the coins slide easier out the front of the box.

It ain't rocket science, just good ole redneck ingenuity. :cowboy:

Now that's a cool idea. I figured the front part had to do with scooping something out of the bins because of the white inserts. Back part stumped me.
