Popular Post John Morris Posted March 27 Popular Post Report Posted March 27 I found this young mans video entertaining, while building his Tea Cabinet. At first when I saw his shop full of Japanese hand tools, and he starts out by processing his lumber by power, I questioned why did he have all the hand tooling if he's only going to process by power, but he quickly transitions to hand tools and displays his skill with the craft. I do love the simplicity and minimalist design of the cabinet. On a side note, I recognize that Hitachi F1000A combo jointer surface planer he has, I had one just like it, and I do love his little table saw. DuckSoup, steven newman, lew and 2 others 2 3 Quote

DAB Posted April 1 Report Posted April 1 without either hanging out in the shop with the woodworker, or viewing a well made video, all people have to go on is the final product. it's nice, but i wouldn't go for outstanding, but nice. "yes, but he spent hours with his fancy planes" ok, but you wouldn't know that at first glance. steven newman and Grandpadave52 1 1 Quote

For some/many the reason for using hand tools is the enjoyment, not necessarily to show off that hand tools were used, even though quite often hand tool evidence in a piece of work can be seen. I love using hand tools, that's why I really enjoyed watching this video, I can relate. Grandpadave52 and steven newman 1 1 Quote
