Friday March 21st, 2025-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Friday again folks.

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" We Energies decided they didn't have enough of our trees "trimmed back".

After finding out what they wanted to do to our other "BIG" Oak (34" diameter trunk, 65' tall) I told them to take it all the way down.

I simply don't like the look of a tree when they totally cut one side completely off. <_<

So after three days of cutting, it's down. Managed to move a good portion of it late yesterday afternoon.

They also took down the last front row Mulberry, and a small Locust tree yesterday.

They will be coming back to take down a dead Hop-Hornbeam (Ironwood) and the neighbors rather large Maple tree (~60') in the next few days.

They were basically going to cut all of one side of Bruces Maple and he told them if you're taking that much to just take it down also as he doesn't like the looks of a half tree also.

I'll have to move quite a bit of the plantings we put in last year in our Butterfly Chaos Garden, so they don't get crushed when they go after the Ironwood. :(

So that's my weekend plans. What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Plans were altered some this week after "Stinky" the Australian Shepherd decided to evict a skunk.

Anyways, she's tolerable now.

Haircut was rescheduled until tomorrow AM by the stylist.

Against my better judgement for Fridays, headed out to Menards and Rural King in a bit, then some outside work hopefully this afternoon. Youngest granddaughter will be home tomorrow for her spring break. Church Sunday.

I WILL be stopping today at the donut pharmacy to fill my donut Rx.

Second Saturday of set construction for Beetlejuice Jr., scheduled for first week in June.   As usual, quite an elaborate set.   About 40' wide two level "unit set" with 14' tall walls, two doors, about six sets of steps.  An "attic" scene, a roof scene, plus a bunch of props like coffin, mausoleums, TSA screening, dining table, chairs, couches, 20' worm, trap door on floor, etc.

:ChinScratch: After moving most of that Oak tree yesterday for some reason I feel like the "Tin Man" today, where the heck is my oil can? :Tapping:

We were watching some of the daffodil's bloom but now we are watching the gas line bloom. Sidewalks are being removed to install new gas line for the entire street then they are relocating our gas meters (digging up the yard) from the inside to the outside of the house. While the gas co. is finishing up the water dept. is following behind & digging up the street to install new water lines. Our road is a paved cement road covered in black top so there is plenty of saws & jackhammers. This should prove to be a noisy dusty spring,

And of course, none of them have a clue what they or the other is doing. :P

Waiting to see if they hit the gas line when they put in the new power poles here.

Looks like all the house cleaning for guests, next week, was for not. Sister/BIL are both sick. Will cancel the scheduled dinner with cousins. Keep the 38 pound turkey  in the freezer.

Probably just as well. Mimi had the respiratory crud for two weeks and I started with it Wednesday. Good excuse to sit on the couch.

They said it was Walking Pneumonia when I had it about a month and a half ago.

Breathing is still not quite right, doesn't take me long to run out of breath if doing anything much more strenuous than raking.

To Windy here to do much outside today with steady 25 MPH Winds with gusts approaching 50 MPH.

Didn't feel much like wrestling with the wood pile again today anyway. <_<

:ChinScratch: Might just join you by sitting out the day on the couch. ;)

:ChinScratch: Somebody must have forgot to bring in their trash can yesterday, it just went west bound down the state highway out front. :P

hey Larry, with all that tree cutting, are you and Butch going to be able to use any of it?

Still working on a small table for Marie's CD player. This one is taking even longer than my normal slow pace since I'm making turned legs for it.

I had checked with a guy with a portable sawmill and can't afford his prices.

Also don't have anywhere to store it where it could stay dry if I did get it cut into lumber anyway.

It's pretty much all cut down to firewood size, it'll probably take all summer to get most of it split.

I've pretty much got most of it moved where the "Wood Pirates" won't bother it. If they take what's left there now they've got bigger GoNads than I've got!

I've got the battery for the crawler on the charger now to move the pieces we can't by hand.

Last weekend I finished my granddaughters shelf unit and I delivered it Monday. I think she likes it. It won't long before she has it filled up.

As you can see in this photo the shelf unit is very close to the inward opening door and we felt we needed a door stop so my granddaughter and I built one.
