February 11, 2025Feb 11 If the pullies are cast Zamac (looks like aluminum) the link belt will wear them much faster than a standard V-Belt.
February 11, 2025Feb 11 Author Popular Post I bought the pulleys and linkbelt as a kit, supposedly designed for this type of saw, a while back - but was too lazy to put it all on at the same time. I was just replacing each pulley as they failed with the el cheapo ones from Ace hardware, since they all failed at the most inconvenient times. Will see how it works out - after all it was on the internet so it had to be true. Lol
February 13, 2025Feb 13 I appreciate and respect your patience @honesttjohn. I started with a Craftsman builder's 8" saw inherited from an uncle. Cut almost everything I threw at it. Added extension tables on both sides. Replaced the belt a couple times. Moved it 6 or seven times, through 2 wives, into basements and garages and closet spaces. Only 22 inches right of the blade though. Not replacing it with something bigger/better sooner kept the money for acquiring other tools and such. Finally replaced it with a 10" "hybrid" saw, 36" fence, from Baleigh when I had my shop in an easy place to move the new table into and spare money to afford it. Passed the Craftsmen over to a brother-in-law who has since passed it down to a son-in-law of his. Main flaw of the Baleigh is the start/stop switch. I've replaced it twice since new. Not expensive or hard to replace though.
