If the pullies are cast Zamac (looks like aluminum) the link belt will wear them much faster than a standard V-Belt.

I appreciate and respect your patience @honesttjohn.   I started with a Craftsman builder's 8" saw inherited from an uncle. Cut almost everything I threw at it.  Added extension tables on both sides.  Replaced the belt a couple times.  Moved it 6 or seven times, through 2 wives, into basements and garages and closet spaces.  Only 22 inches right of the blade though.  Not replacing it with something bigger/better sooner kept the money for acquiring other tools and such. Finally replaced it with a 10" "hybrid" saw, 36" fence, from Baleigh when I had my shop in an easy place to move the new table into and spare money to afford it.  Passed the Craftsmen over to a brother-in-law who has since passed it down to a son-in-law of his. Main flaw of the Baleigh is the start/stop switch.  I've replaced it twice since new. Not expensive or hard to replace though.

Replaced my delta uni contractors saw with a saw stop and never looked back.
