Friday February 7th, 2024-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

:ChinScratch: Looks like it's Friday again.

Not much going on here, it's too cold for doing much outside.

Started working on another "wave bowl". The piece of cherry has some pretty nasty cracks so this might be a bust. CA used during drying process kept the cracks from expanding.

Swelling went down. Got the bad drivers side headlight bulb changed; All the Youtubers say its the most difficult side. Don't believe them. Piece of cake compared to the right side. I almost got enough stuff removed where I could gain access on the RS before giving up and moving to the left side. No matter, all the bulbs I bought wouldn't work. Turns out hers has the HID option. I was lucky to find one in stock locally while I had everything apart. Not a fun job.

$105 + tax list price (not actual bulb but very similar) I was lucky by getting a 20% off coupon by ordering online for pick up in store.

Makes me glad I grabbed enough bulbs at the boneyard to replace them all at least 3X.

Really big weekend for me, I'm prepping for my annual Super Bowl party. To insure you understand, my party is the celebrate the end of the %$#(*&*@!$^*))><{"#$ football season. This year I'm going all out. Today I'll be mixing some onion chip dip (allow it to age a day) that I'll eat with some chips....none of that Dorito crap at our house. Then Sunday when the Puppy Bowl comes on I'll be all set.

Oh, yeah. I'll be finishing up a frame for a painting this weekend.

I really don't have anything planned for this weekend. I have a project coming up soon to build a shelf unit for my granddaughter and felt I needed (wanted) a bench vice to help with that project so today I installed a Harbor Freight Doyle 7" carpenters vise. I love the quick release feature of this vise. Seems to be well made, smooth operation.

Going down to Ranch to plant Arbor Day trees today. Early AM tomorrow will be heading to an estate sale. More tree planting in afternoon.

Can be a backbreaking job!  Helped a friend plant 1000 walnut trees. I was a lot younger then!

Oil change, tire rotation, and spark plugs on the Tacomoma.... hoping to get some woodshop time in too.  Need to finish up some custom Ruger grips, then get on to some production parts so I can get paid.  Production is where the money is on this stuff, make almost as much as the day job on those.  Custom stuff is for fun.

One of these days I need to fix the blower motor in the ex-wife's Kia so I can get it sold.  I ended up with it and the Toyota, bought her a new car when we split.  Figured that was only fair, she won't have me fixing the older ones for her.

Water leak at work, so it will be a light crew on Monday, probably be a short day for me too.  Got that to look forward to.

:ChinScratch: Might be Sunny out there, but with temps in the 20's range I think I'll just sit here and wait for the Kitten, & Puppy Bowls.

:throbbinghead:

After those are done, I'll be turning the channel. ;)

Plugs took me half of yesterday.  Ok, I was working slowly, job took some thought...... I remember when plugs were easy!  Lots of stuff in the way, but thanks to the internet I mostly was able to work around it all.  At least these days we only need to do plugs every 100k or so, instead of 30 or 40!

So shop time today (he says at 11 am :( )

Stopped changing my own spark plugs after I cross threaded the far right one on my brand new '65 Beetle. had the replace the head as a heli-coil didn't hold. Lesson learned the expensive way.

I haven't had to do my own mechanic work for years - vehicles just got so much more reliable, and where I lived before here had a guy who was a good mechanic, retired truck driver.

These days I have a decent garage to work in and the work I did yesterday would have been about $600 at a mechanic and even worse at the dealer, so I figure it's worth it again to get back in the habit.
