Friday January 17th, 2025-What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

:ChinScratch: Looks like we made it to another Friday. ;)

Here "Two Weeks From Anywhere" we're trying to figure out what season we're in for the moment. :WonderScratch:

Today is forecast to be in the mid 40's with wind to be followed by single digit temperatures Sunday through Tuesday.

So while I try to figure out which position to stop the rotating closet at, ...

What's on Your Weekend Agenda?

Probably not much. Get a heart monitor installed today to wear for 24 hrs. I suspect (but do not know) I won't be allowed around dangerous machinery while wearing it. Otherwise I'll be watching the snow melt (I hope).

I’m playing instructor tomorrow. I have a younger friend (late 20’s) that wants to build a small cabinet. My sole purpose is to get it built, keep him safe and give hime the desire to continue with woodworking.

Going to pick up some hard maple for a future work bench. Wife noticed an oil spot under her car so guess I’ll be looking into that too.

Not too big a deal Fred just a nuisance IMO. Had one for 24 hours while in the hospital, then had to wear one for 24/7 for 2 weeks in December. That one was "wireless". Had a small transmitter placed on the chest. It connected to a cell phone I had to carry which in turn sent the data somewhere...China probably. Anyways no restrictions with it except scuba diving:P.  Prayers all goes well particularly outcome wise.

Good on you Ron. Good day to be inside. Forecast doesn't sound good at least on the Western side.

Picked up some online auction items yesterday. A few tool scores. Pics later.

Hoping the LP delivery gets here as promised today. They've let the tank get dangerously low for unexplained reasons and no way to contact the local office anymore. Goes to a call center somewhere in the middle east. Time to look for a new, local supplier I guess. Been with this company for over 25 years.

In other news, mens breakfast tomorrow morning unless the ice/snow forecasted cancels. Church Sunday.

Did get a start on a new project late yesterday. First one this year. Should keep me busy over the weekend.

we'll we set up and took our booth picture last weekend and as you can see it's a little too dark. Our photo editor also wants it taken outdoors. So today We get to set everything back up and retake the pictures. Here's hoping the clouds roll in to minimize shadows.
since we're an hour or so north of that guy who is "two weeks from anywhere" we'll be enjoying that same weather he talked about while doing this.

So does that make you 2.5 weeks from anywhere?:P

Extremely nice display with unique and diverse product offerings John. Only thing I see missing is the donut bar.;) Hope you have a good turnout and sales day.

Actually, feels better out there today than yesterday due to the wind. Not looking forward to the next three days.

Picked up 250 bdft of 8/4 hard maple, for a new workbench. Future project. Shout out to Greg at Cygnus Lumber in Va Beach.

Looked at the leak in the wifes car, small coolant leak. I’ll have to borrow a pressure tester from work to locate it. Found a screw in her tire while I was under there. Brought it to town and got it fixed, also picked up new window blinds while I was there. Guess I’ll be putting up blinds while I watch football tonight.

:ChinScratch: Not sure if this qualifies as woodworking or not, but I managed to spread about 50' of wood chips along the paths through the yard today.

Wood chips sound like wood to me.

It’s down at discount tire if you’d like it back.

Ever since I bought my HF Warrior table saw I hated the fence. It would never lock down parallel to the saw blade so I would have to take two measurements to get it aligned with the blade. Based on a video I saw I created a couple of jigs that helped in the alignment but that was still a pain and time consuming. Lase week I found a video where a man upgraded his small table saw fence so based on his design, with a couple of miner changes, I built a BETTER SMALL TABLE SAW FENCE.

As seen in the picture below (circled in red) the original fence only had a 1" wide contact on the far end of the table. Very poor design but as they say you get what you pay for.

Saw_Fence-1.jpg.27f1881334c87ce23140ae6d41473d24.jpg

Per the design I saw online I used 1/2" plywood for the two sides of the fence and a 1/2" spacer to get the runner below the table surface. For the runner I used a 14 layer heavy duty 3/4" plywood that I cut 2 1/4" wide by 12 " long. Once I got the fence parallel to the blade I clamped the runner to the 1/2" spacer and used 2 playing cards on each end of the runner as spacers so the runner was not too tight against the end of the table. I tested it several times to see how well it would slide and checked to make sure it stayed parallel to the blade before I turned it over and CA glued and screwed the runner to the 1/2" spacer. I then clamped the two sides of the fence together tight against the original fence, checked to make sure the new fence was 90° to the table top then glued and brad nailed the end cap to the end of the fence and runner.

I waxed all sides of the new wood fence and the table saw top and now it slides with ease. On my first test I slid the fence back and forth several times then using the ruler on the front of the table I set it to cut a 1" wide x 2'-0" long

piece of wood. Per my calipers the cut piece of wood measured 63/64" on both ends. I decided that was close enough.

A perspective view of the fence.

So that is all I had planned for the weekend.

Sweet upgrade @Bubba. Very well done. Should easily allow for the attachment of a sacrificial fence if/ when needed.

Hoping to clean a little and get the shop up and running.

Spent some time today cutting and threading 3/4" black pipe that I picked up from a local Dairy Farm that was being torn down.

Just ordered another 8 clamps

I know the rules, but I think I'll have enough clamps after this. I can always change my mind, SWMBO doesn't read the posts on this site,  so she can't hold me to it.
