Hi All

Got the little rainbow blank all cut and glued up. Made from 7 bandsaw cut strips 3/16"T x1/32" W x 4" L. In order to make the arc on these delicate strips without breaking, I had to use my homemade wood bending iron. By adding heat and pressure over the length of the strip it allows me to bend the pieces without breaking or splintering and makes the glue-up much easier. 99 pieces from 16 woods . To be continued !!

Just nod and agree Mike. You'll get smarter as they get older. BTW, great recovery!

That is a clever bending iron. This is coming along nicely Mike.

Excellent progress Mike. I'll echo the great idea for a bending jig. Thanks.

Hi Everyone

Today I added a  little rabbit and a squirrel to my intarsia scene. The rabbit is made from 4 pieces of 1/4" persimmon with a 3/64 inlayed ebony eye. The squirrel is made from 4 pieces of ambrosia maple  with a 1/32" ebony eye. Fun Stuff!! Now that most of the small subject intarsias are done I can start designing the foreground foliage and  forest and bring this project to life. 128 pieces from 18 woods. To be continued!!

Hi Everyone

Making some slow progress on my intarsia project. Working on the foreground rocks  and right side forest. As you can see, lots of little pieces to capture the depth  I'm looking for in this project. Long ways to go but gaining on it. Lots of detailing ahead. Added 30 pieces from 4 woods. so far have 158 pieces from 19 woods. Fun has just begun!!

Hi All

A little more progress on my newest custom intarsia project. Been working on the rest of the forest and started filling in more of the background . Slow going with all the small pieces but that's what make it fun. Still have to do lots of detail carving and texturing but at this point it's more important to get the background pieces cut into place. Up to 181 pieces from 20 woods. To be continued!!

Be thankful you have one to boggle. After Neurology Dr. visit today, seems to be some discrepancy about mine:P

Hi Everyone

Been working on Honey-do holiday projects so haven't made a lot of progress on my Intarsia project.

I did get the 4 little diamonds inlayed into the frame of my project. Each of the inlays are made from 8 pieces of purpleheart, lignum vitae, madrone burl and yellowheart. . Also added a few more pieces to the background . Up to 217 pieces from 22 woods. To be continued
