August 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Started the finishing process on my grandson's coffee table. It was almost comical, I had applied a coat of dye and had nothing but headaches applying it. Then decided to seal the dye with a coat of shellac...sprayed on. It's been several years since I used my spray setup and it took almost 2 hours to get thing going, after which it took maybe 15 minutes to spray the shellac. But it was good to retrace the steps in using it; I'm hoping to start building a lot more stuff over the upcoming year and i hope to spray most of it.
August 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Monday? Late night adventures last night...the 2 flea bags found a possum in the back yard....they had fun..the Possum did not... Next Project? Well there ARE a pair of 1 x 10 x 5' Ash planks..that came from a 10' long board...that could use a project made from them.... West Liberty, OH. is having their Annual Labor Day get together....aka Tractor Fest...next weekend...trying to save up a bit of cash for that..
August 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Got a couple of miniature vases turned for Mimi. My brother had another back surgery. I'm doing research on making him a cane. Not sure of the best way to attach the handle (Derby style) to the shaft. I'll be using Tiger maple for the handle and hard maple for the shaft. Maybe a thin piece of walnut for an accent piece between the two. Open for ideas.
August 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Another Monday back to the daily grind of messin with phone scammers. Already broke 2 microsoft scam call center numbers all thanks to an ai Bot that I've created. LOL nothin but fun there. Wood turning side learning how to sharpen gouges I'm going to at some point attempt to learn how to do re shaping the gouges. Good thing I got cheap bowl gouges to learn on. So if I mess up on those its not a big deal.

August 26, 20241 yr Popular Post Got back late last night from SWAT woodturning symposium in Waco. Now feel like I missed a week of sleep somewhere. Had a great time and spent lots of money. Would have spent more if I had it. Trying to wake myself up and get into the shop.

August 27, 20241 yr Popular Post Another weekend in the can(ner) Mrs and I picked another 4g of green beans. Also 4g of tomatoes. She and daughter spent Saturday canning. I spent the day doing some cleaning and organizing. Yesterday after church took Mrs out to lunch in Boilertown. Following lunch she wanted to go to the shoe store. At her urging, she said I should go shopping at Harbor Freight (go H-F) conveniently located next door to the shoe store while she shopped. What can you do? Happy wife...well you know. Late PM, attended youngest grandson's soccer match. They won 7-5. He scored 2 goals. More garage cleaning, organizing, lawn equipment maintenance. Hope to finally get the woodchipper completed. Technically I guess that's woodworking. Haircut Wednesday, errands, then Wednesday night, 8th grade football if the weather permits.
August 27, 20241 yr Popular Post Boss has decided that the "Monday Errands" will be run..Tuesday.... She also wants new doors (4)on the Bathroom Linen Closet, as the old ones no longer stay shut...open funny...and are painted...white.. ( White Linen?)...so, have to draw up plans to replace those....and MAYBE match the rest of the stuff? Stay tuned...
August 27, 20241 yr Popular Post I am currently 1/2 way through 5 days with no supervision. Last Saturday, I dropped my wife off at the airport and returned my grandson to his parents. Sunday: The hardest thing I did was move a case of beer from the basement to the refrigerator in the barn. Monday: Shopped for Steak and other essentials. Today: Refinishing a pair of Wine Barrel Adirondack chairs that have been on MY 'To-Do List' for three years. Edited August 27, 20241 yr by frenchwwr

August 27, 20241 yr Called mortgage company to inquire about a $11.20 charge listed on Bill as unknown. To get anywhere I had to pay it. Then request copy of unknown charge. An hour later bank acct shows refund. Bank sent text msg. Unable to determine unknown charge. Really?? Well I got my money back but ya gotta wonder.
