May 20, 20242 yr Popular Post Well, another weekend in the books. I made some progress on the plantation shutters I am working on and was kinda getting into a groove making shavings and then disaster struck. The wife found someone on marketplace giving away free flagstones. Managed to tweak my elbow pretty good moving that mess and kinda put a kink in my shop plans. 2 days of ice and Advil later it is feeling a bit better and hopefully I can get some time this week to continue.
May 20, 20242 yr Popular Post Very busy and diverse projects, duties and events weekend. Spent way too much time guiding the string trimmer. Guidance system seems to need a major upgrade... system keeps crashing. Busy week ahead. Way behind on mowing again so between storms I'll be mowing. On-line auction scores PU Wednesday. I did score a #6 Stanley/Bailey along with a couple other planes. Baseball games every night weather permitting. Number of other tasks in the mix as well including trying to catch up here. Lots of new posts to read. Whatever you all are doing, be safe and remember to cherish every bite of your donut(s).
May 20, 20242 yr Popular Post Well, the highlight of the day is my eldest granddaughter's 19th birthday. Meanwhile at the furniture bank, we had a group of high-schoolers from a local private school. It was probably the worst group that I can remember in the 10 years I've been hosting outside groups. For most of the dozen or so there: There was very little interest in doing the work, assembling tables. Stood around doing nothing much of the time. Despite the fact that given their school, probably intelligent kids, very little, if any, mechanical skills. Some work fine. Before and after, I worked on repairs. I found an IKEA end table in the repair area. The bottom was on upside down, the drawer glides were on the wrong side, despite being marked CR and CL (cabinet right and cabinet left), and missing two pieces of KD hardware. Had to disassemble the hole thing find some replacement parts, and re-do. Some people just need to RTFM or stay away from IKEA.
May 20, 20242 yr Popular Post the folks at church tried out the table i had built for them a few weeks ago this past sunday. worked well, can I make 3 more just like it? sure, be a few weeks. sweet.
May 21, 20242 yr Popular Post Had a woodturners meeting Saturday. Then went to son's place and tried 3 AR platforms. Sunday after church went to Sams. Worked on setting up scope on Ruger and test fired today . It was Miserable. Started turning urn for DIL's father.
May 21, 20242 yr Popular Post Doctors say my back is healed up nicely and it feels good too. They gave me free reign to get on with life again with no restrictions. After sitting around for three months I believe I'll ease back into it. Got some things that need attended to before I get back in the shop. Life is good again.

May 23, 20242 yr Author Popular Post you know, this office work aint half bad. I report into the main office once a week just so they know I'm alive, then for the rest of the week I am assigned to a satellite office just miles away from my home. Nobody on my back, micromanagers are out of my life, as long as I do my job and do it well, they leave me alone. Yep, I can get used to this. Plus, liking the 72 degree year round weather in this office

May 24, 20242 yr Popular Post Nice to see a #45 actually getting used instead of sitting on e-bay as a “rare collector’s item”.

Actually not that rare but a complete one with two sets of cutters and short and long rods is. I had to order several parts to assemble mine. Wish I had an original box for it.
