Nothing like a new toy on the ol shop to spur the creativity! Keep us updated for sure!" Just ordered a 40 watt Creality laser. Not that I would use for this but it will supposedly cut 3/4 oak in one pass. But, my use in the cutting mode will be in 1/8 or 1/4 plywood. Possibly 1/2 if the need arises. I envision making small boxes but, most of it's use will be engraving wood, slate, stainless steel and cylindrical objects like tumblers. Should be lots of fun.

Gene, I engrave my signature on the end of my rolling pins. Made a holder to place the rolling pin vertically under the laser. In hind sight, I should have gotten a laser with a larger base area for larger sized items. Especially bowls/platters with engraving at the center of the diameter.
April 30, 20242 yr Author Popular Post The laser arrived yesterday. Came in a huge box. Probably weighed somewhere near 100 lb. In the process of assembly now. Well, actually just identifying the parts first. More later. Edited April 30, 20242 yr by Gene Howe

Lol There is wisdom in your suggestion, however it always takes a first machine for a better one to become the second one. Had he bought the second one, it would have been his first, then another one would be out there waiting to become his second. I apologize as I took a logic class in college and have been waiting 47 years to find an excuse to make use of that knowledge. 4D
May 1, 20242 yr Author Popular Post Got this beast unpacked and assembly has started. Oh, so many screws. Sure glad the instructions have good pictures.

May 2, 20242 yr Popular Post I also am interested to see what you do with it. If you can make donuts with it then I'm gonna get one too. 4D
