Good Monday morning!

Good Monday morning Patriot Woodworkers! What did you get done over the weekend, and what have you planned for the week ahead! Inquiring minds want to know. Please tell us what's happening in your shops, your life, and any events going on with you. Thank you for being here folks!

Welcome new members

For images in our Gallery, please ensure per the community suggested guidelines in each gallery to name your images appropriately. Please avoid keeping the default image file name such as DSC5974kl.jpg or such names like it.

If you click on each gallery category you'll see our suggested method for uploading images, I'd like to see it become law, there are many reasons why an actual title to the image is beneficial to our community.

Image Uploading Suggestions

We appreciate your help in keeping our image gallery orderly and easy for others to research.

Please consider these suggestions while uploading your images.

  • Name your images before uploading to our gallery, the generic camera file names just look so messy. "Walnut Desk" looks so much better than "DSC19467je69.jpg". You can also name your images after you upload them to our gallery for your convenience.
  • After uploading your images, please consider adding a description so your viewers know what they are seeing and the wood used, the tools used, or even your inspiration for building the project.
  • Please consider tagging your images so our members and guests will be able to successfully search for your image and related images. Tags can be inserted into the "Tags" field. An example of tags and their names should be related to your project. If your project images are of a Walnut Desk with dovetail joinery, than tag the image with "Walnut", "Desk", "Dovetail" etc.

Thank you for your cooperation.

I knew all us woodworkers were a special group! Angels, all of us! :)

An engraving by Filippo Morghen from Delle antichità di Ercolano (1757-1779) of two putti sawing wood on an eight legged workbench, based on a fresco in the ruins of Herculaneum. According to Christopher Schwarz of Lost Art Press the now ruined fresco is of note as one of the earliest known images of a woodworking bench. Also visible is a holdfast being using to secure a piece of wood.

A pretty good video by this young man, dispelling some ol fashioned rumors. Enjoy!

After surviving snowmageddon Feb. 2024 on Friday, spent part of the weekend rearranging snow then recuperating from said activity. Ran a few errands after church. Followed youngest granddaughter's conference swim meet. Not her best conference meet but she had one personal best and a couple season best times. Fortunately yesterday was a federal holiday so I had the day off; no need to walk to the mailbox so I mostly just monitored the snow melting.

Following an on-line auction close tonight. PU will be Thursday afternoon. Oldest grandson has a home wrestling meet Thursday night. In between domestic duty assignments. Might wander out to the garage to poke around some.

Finally got a furnace guy out to the shop this morning, his diagnosis was the control board went bad. So now I wait for a replacement to come in. Meanwhile back in the house, the handicap shower we just had installed seems to leak water in use. It looks to me like it splashed out the bottom of the door where the seal doesn't completely close the opening. So now I've got to call that guy. But the fun doesn't stop there, Marie had (yet another) doctor visit yesterday about the newly developed grion pain she has...this guy was a hip specialist. In a visit that lasted all of 5 minutes he informed here the problem isn't with her hips, it's still in here back. This was after reviewing the many xrays/MRI/history she has...so his work may have been more than 5 minutes. Anyway, now she's referred back to the pain guy (who we just saw last Thursday for an epidural).

IMG_8639.jpeg.4b6cba4abf55da4b125d87d0a5249577.jpegI agree Steven's pictures are better with phone than the last camera.

Got into the shop yesterday and cut some Sweet Gum into top blanks and got that in the Kiln.

Picked up a spalted Sweet gum blank at Saturday meeting and started turning it yesterday. Got the outside roughed but has some punky spots so got tearout. Managed to get about half hollowed.
